Definition

• Prepositions are used to show movement to or from a place.

•The word ‘to’ is used express movement.•It shows movement with the aim of a specific destination.

Examples: They were going to school together.

She has gone to the mall.

• We also use ‘toward/towards’ to express movement.

Examples: We are moving toward the future.

This is a big step towards the marriage.

Some prepositions also function as subordinate conjunctions. These prepositions are after, as, before, since, and until. A subordinate conjunction will have both a subject and a verb following it, forming a subordinate clause.
