LOCATION
Turkish Republic is a Euroasian state
that funcitions as a corridor between two continents,
Asia and Europe. Turkey

MAJOR CITIES• Turkey consists of 7 regions
and it has 81 provinces.• Some of the major cities are
Istanbul,Ankara,Izmir and Mersin.
ATATURK
• Atatürk means “the ancestor of Turks”.
• He is a revolutionary statesman, the founder and the 1st President of Turkish Republic.
• His policies designed to remold Turkish society according to an urban European model.
POLITICAL STRUCTURE
• Turkish Republic is based on a secular,democratic pluralistic and parliamentary system
• Ankara is the capital of Turkish Republic.
• One-house legislature called The Grand National Assembly.
ECONOMY
• Turkish Republic has the 16th biggest economy in the World,6th in Europe.
• Main industries are textile,food processing,consumer electronics and tourisim.
• Do you know Turkey has been the cradle of several civilizations ?
• Do you know 2 of the 7 wonders are in Turkey ?• Turkey not only bridges East to West
geographically but also culturally• Anatolia is the land from which Turkish
civilization acquired some of its roots,works of arts and literature.
THE EVIL EYE BEAD• It is named as “Nazar Boncuğu”.It is an amulet
from ancient Turkish mythology.We hang it on our walls or wear as a necklace,bracelet or earring.
THE ART OF WATER MARBLING
• Paper marbling is a method of aqueous surface design, which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other stone. The patterns are the result of color floated on either plain water or a viscous solution known as size and then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or fabric
POPULAR FIGURES
• In Anatolian History ,There were too many popular figures as the culture of Turkey was derived from various elements of the Ottoman Empire, European and the the Islamic traditions.
HOMEROS• Homer was born in
Izmir on the west coast of Turkey.His famous epic ,the iliada,depicts the battles for the city of Troy ,also located in Turkey.
ST. NICHOLAS
• St. Nıcholas who became popular as Santa Claus,was born in Demre on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast.
MEVLANA RUMI
• Mevlana is a 13th century Muslim Saint,philosopher, great poet and a mystic ,a spiritually touched man.
• “Come,Come whoever you are come !”one of his famous sayings.
NASREDDIN HODJA• He was born in
Akşehir,a small village in the Central Anatolia.
• He was a 13th century philosopher,wise,witty man with a good sense of humour.
• His jokes and stories are part of the Turkish culture.
HACIVAT and KARAGOZ
• Traditional Turkish Shadow play,popularized during Ottoman period.
• “Karagöz” represents illiterate public whereas “Hacivat” belongs to the educated class.
Two of the seven marvels of ancient World are in Anatolia.
• The temple of Artemis • The mausoleum at Halikarnassos
CAPPADOCIA• It is a historic area of
Central Anatolia Region.
• There is a lunar-likelandscape(Fairy
chimneys)• Lots of caves and
underground cities
TROY• The city of Troy is
located on the western part of Turkey,in Çanakkale at where a replica of Trojan Horse is exhibited.
NOAH’S ARK
• Some explorers claim that Noah’s Ark landed on Agrı Dağı-Mount Ararat in the eastern part of Turkey.
• Some Christians believe that the Mount Ararat is the final resting place of Noah’s Ark.
THE VARIETIES OF KEBABS• The well-known varieties
are Sis Kebab (grilled spicy meat) and Doner kebab (grilled and sliced meat over slow fire on a vertical spit and served with yoghurt and tomatoe souce on the top)
TURKISH DELIGHT• Turkish Delight is a
flavored sweet or a candy, prepared from starch and sugar, filled with dry fruits, honey or nuts
BAKLAVA
• The Traditional Turkish dessert.• It is made by very thin layers of pastry
made from wheat starch and a sugary syrup that just contains water and sugar.
