Stage 1

• Attend Preparatory briefing

• Apply to GAO by submitting online application form

• If successful, Accept / Decline offer

• Submit Undertaking Form

Stage 2

• Prepare your Application to partner institution (Host)

• Form checking by GAO (depends) and then student apply and pay to Host direct

• Attend compulsory Pre-departure Briefing

• Upon receiving admission confirmation, make all logistic arrangements ON YOUR OWN, such as payment, visa, air tickets, insurance, etc.

Stage 3

• Study Abroad

• Be ambassador of EdUHK

• Maintain close contact with GAO

Stage 4• After completion of GSP, submit post-programme documents to GAO

Full-time students who:

are currently enrolled in one of the sub-degree, undergraduate, or postgraduate programmes* (including both Government-funded and Self-funded programmes) but NOT in the final year of study in 2020/21;

attain a required minimum Cumulative GPA by the time of application:

CGPA ≥2.5 for credit bearing programmes that are not less than 4 weeks

CGPA ≥2.3 for all other programmes

fulfill the specific entry requirements (e.g. language, education background, etc.) set by the host institution(s). (Please refer to the column “other Entry Requirements” in the Programme List. If there is no requirement related to English proficiency, applicants are NOT required to submit IELTS/TOEFL result).

* Please pay attention to the restriction(s) on programme level. For details, please refer to the Programme List.

To maximize students’ opportunities to gain international experiences,1. each student can join ONE summer programme only under GSP in each academic year;2. priority will be given to those who had NOT participated in International Summer Programmes (ISP) before.

Before applying for GSP and accepting the offer, students should have CAREFULLY CONSIDERED their interests and capabilities.

Each GSP is a proper learning programme. GSP participants MUST observe all its specified rules, regulations, instructions, and schedules, and have strong commitment towards the programme.

The mode of teaching of GSP is subject to change by the partner institution according to the pandemic situation and related regulations nearer the time

The summer school may be cancelled at the end due to low enrollment, pandemic situation, and/ or related regulations, final decision will rest with the Host Institutions

• Information on partners’ promotional materials (e.g. leaflets, brochure, website, etc. ) may NOT fully apply to EdUHK students

Read the Application Guidelines carefully

Complete and submit Global Summer Programmes (GSP) 2021 Online Application Form on or before EdUHK internal application deadline

Applicants who wish to choose the GSP(s) with specific language proficiency requirements (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, letter from professor etc.), are required to submit valid test result or letter online together with the application If there is no requirement on English proficiency, applicants are NOT

required to submit IELTS/TOEFL result

Applicants can choose up to TWO summer programmes in order of preference

Late submission/ Incomplete application will NOT be entertained

If the number of applications to a summer programme exceeds the places available, lots will be drawn for random allocation by application priority and students’ order of preference 13

Remember…

Submit following documents with your applicationonline if you wish to join GSP(s) with specific language requirements:

• Language Proficiency (required by some institutions); or

• Recommendation Letter from Professor to certify English proficiency (required by some institutions)

If you cannot provide the valid document(s), you will NOT be considered for programmes with specific language requirements

All applicants will be informed of the application results via email (EdUHK email account) after EdUHK’s internal application deadline

Each successful applicant will receive ONE programme offer and he/she will be required to confirm the acceptance of that offer by returning a completed Undertaking Form to GAO by the designated submission deadline(s)

Other shortlisted candidates will be placed on the waiting list if applicable

A mass email will be sent to unsuccessful candidates after all offers are placed

GAO reserves the right of final decision

Accept GAO offer Apply to Host (online or hardcopy by mail)

It is not guaranteed that your application will be accepted by the host institution; Final admission decision will be rested with the host institution

Your admission is confirmed ONLY when you receive an Acceptance Letter/Email from your host institution

Therefore, please get well-prepared for your application to the HOST and apply ON-TIME!

Participants will be responsible for the entire cost of the summer programme, including but not limited to:

Application fee, programme/tuition fee (Bank transaction fees involved in both HK and host country bank are FULLY paid by Applicants )

Accommodation

Air Tickets

Meals

Activity fees

Other transportation (between airports, train, etc.)

Other personal expenses incurred (visa, insurance, etc.)

For eligible Global Learning Enhancement Fund (GLEF) applicant, 50% of the cost will be supported with the maximum cap to HKD 10,000.

Subject to the approval from the University, GSP participants studying in both UGC-funded & Self-funded undergraduate programmes could apply for the Global Learning Enhancement Fund (GLEF).

The proposed amount of GLEF for each programme is calculated based on the estimated programme cost (i.e. Application & Tuition + Housing + Airfare+ Meal expense)

Upon endorsement, further details on GLEF arrangement (application procedures & requirements) will be announced by email in due course.

There are scholarships and awards available for students participating in outreach activities:

The Reaching Out Award (ROA) under Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) and HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund of the Education Bureau

available for full-time UGC-funded and Self-funded local & non-local students participating in EdUHK organised or endorsed outreach activities

Subsidies: Scheme for Subsidy on Exchange for Post-secondary Students (SSE) and Scheme for Subsidy on Exchange to “Belt and Road” Regions for Post-secondary Students (SSEBR) are also available for full-time UGC-funded local undergraduates in financial need

Block Credit Transfer (BCT) for Global Summer Programmes (for 4-week, credit-bearing summer programmes ONLY)

Number of credits for BCT: up to 6 EdUHK credit points [for European ECTS system, a minimum 6 ECTS is needed for ONE EdUHK course (3 EdUHK credits)]

Complete the courses concerned at the host institution and present the transcript to GAO

Courses transferred will NOT be counted towards the GPA

Subject area matching is NOT required in claiming non-major course
