Q1. What have you learned during the making of your Preliminary task?

• During the making of our preliminary task, I learnt how to use a camcorder for the first time but it's not as though it's exactly different to a normal camera, well, I thought it wouldn't have been but in all fairness, it was a little more difficult than I thought it would be to use it as the buttons were quite fiddly. Also, when it came to using the editing software for the task, I quite enjoyed it and learnt something new every step of the way.

• It was quite difficult to handle time, especially when our group did lose our work with not much time left which led to much difficulty with handling the time we needed in order to make the video. Though we seemed to pull through quite well as a group, especially with storyboarding as we all seemed to agree with what we wanted to include and where things were going with it. I also learnt that there was definitely issues when it came to continuity as we had to try to wear the same clothes when we were going to record but it was difficult because of the clothing being worn throughout the entire school day and was quite uncomfortable to wear for more than one day so this led to us trying to film everything in one day.

Q2. Areas of Success

• The finished version, in my opinion, was overall good, with the sound and editing included, I think it all pulled off in the end. In my opinion, it was actually better than expectations and the way the group worked together for the project was a success as well. I see it as a success because we all listened to one anothers opinions and discussed them before coming to an answer instead of just saying a 'no' or acting rude about it.

Q3. Areas for Development• I believe that when we're trying to film, we need to make sure all

of our data is on the memory card as we did lose our work before having to record it all again which led to a loss of time for editing and sounds.

• I also believe that time management on a whole could've been handled better as we weren't very well organised when it came to matters as such because when everyone else had started editing, we'd only just begun recording our preliminary work again which led to us being behind, but we ended up on track again. In my opinion, it would be best to try and avoid this by saving all of our recordings each time we finish up recording for the day to avoid losing track of time, as well as making sure we're on top of all of our work.

Q4. How well did you meet the brief?• We used shot/reverse shot to show the

conversation between the two characters when they were seated opposite each other, we did this by taking the footage from over the shoulder of one person and looking directly at the other persons face to get a clear view of their expressions and emotions when they spoke.

• Match on action shot was used once or twice, mainly when it came to revealing what was being brought out into the open and revealed to the audience.

• We obeyed the 180 degree rule when it came to being seated in the video as no matter where the camera was placed to take the shots, the characters positions were not disorientated at any points.

Q5. Feedback from others• I received feedback from a member of another group on what we did well in our

preliminary task and what we could improve on, here's what she had to say:

"I think that the sound and editing were well done, the sounds high pitch at the point where Milie opens the door and the sound drags on a little to see Stef look up gives a sense of tension rising in the air between the two, alongside the heartbeat sounds which made the tension rise even more. The black and white feature for this made a good impact on me as well as I saw it as a good technique to use for this video, because of it making it seem more like one of those classic movies, up until the part at the end of the clip. When it came to costume, I believe continuity wasn't a problem as in the video, they all looked like they were wearing the same clothes throughout the video though they could improve more on how they appear in their shots as each time it switches, they'll have moved a bit which wasn't shown in the previous shot.Another thing I would improve on is the fact that the camera is a little shaky at points, they may have wanted to use the tripod a little more as I think they didn't use it so much from appearance wise.Lastly, the sound was a little loud at points and could be done with being turned down a little."

Q6. Evaluate your contribution to the groups work.

• In this task, I acted out a little and I also arranged the sound for the background to match up with what happened in the scenes that were already happening and were already edited by Lizzie. I actually enjoyed editing the sound and music in this task and I believe I was quite flexible in this task due to when people in my group weren't there, I carried on with doing what needed to be done and could be done with a single person.

• I've grasped a bit at the basics of editing the videos, such as adding effects or changing the colours but I believe I gained more of a skill in the area of sound since I wasn't too confident in other areas of the task.

• I believed that our group worked well together and I worked well within this group as we thoroughly listened to ideas that were presented between one another and it was easy to interact with each other because of us knowing each other a bit better in advance, as well as along the way.
