Preliminary Task

Setting

There are two scenes, both set in different locations in a school.

Filming locations: Haverstock School/P.E corridor Playground

Technical codes which we will be using:

Where and why are they meeting?

To resolve an issue which has risen between the friends. The next scene the girls discuss the incident which occurred with Nadra and Nahida.

Characters: Nadra-16= Aggressive, anger issues,

not afraid to speak her mind. Nahida-16= Doesn’t take things

seriously, quirky, naïve. Ness-16= Nahida’s best friend,

protective over friends, the group leader.

Izzy-16= Quiet, shy, friend of Nahida and Ness.

Dialogue scenes: There will be two different

conversations throughout the film. First scene is a confrontation between

Nahida and Nadra, involving stuff that have been said by Nahida about Nadra.

Second scene is the next day, where Nahida tells her friends what happened between her and Nadra.

Costumes: (Scene 1)- Nadra is dressed in a leather jacket

over a grey hoodie which connotes that she doesn’t care about her appearance. She avoids wearing colourful clothes which also shows that she doesn’t like to attract attention to herself.

Nahida is dressed in a more sophisticated/formal outfit with a white blouse and blazer with a large statement necklace that portrays to the audience the idea that she is more put together and cares what people think of her and her appearance, she wants to fit in with the rest.

Costumes: (Scene 2)- Nahida is dressed more

laid back with black trousers and a checked crop top. Although she has made less of an effort, she still manages to look chic.

Ness and Izzy are also dressed in ordinary everyday clothes, similar to their peers, as they too have a desire to fit in with the rest and be loved.

What the audience hear/see:

(Scene 1) Shot 1- Medium long shot behind Nadra. Shot 1 of the match on action as she pushes the double doors open.

Shot 2- Medium long shot of nadra walking through a door- for a match on action. You hear the door hit the wall.

Shot 3 – Was a two shot including Nadra and Nahida about to begin their discussion, then there's a noddy shot of the two. Digetic sound is heard in the background of people moving about in the building.

What the audience hear/see:

(Scene 2) Shot 1-Nahida walks through door you can see her walking right past the camera, you can hear a slight background noise, you can also hear her footsteps getting louder.

Next you see just Nahida’s back to camera having a conversations.

Then changes to an over the shoulder shot to nahidah Shot reverse shot of nahidah and friend. You hear the

digetic sound of their conversation. Switches to a long shot with all three character in the one

shot. Shot changes to a different angle of a long shot. The last shot is of the girls walking away it is filmed from

the back, therefore making it a shot of them from behind.

LIGHTING The lighting throughout out P task

was natural lighting. We took advantage of the fact that it was light outside to shoot some scenes there.

There is also some artificial lighting used in the first scene as the girls are in a school corridor, which is lit by normal LED lights.

Sound Footsteps can be heard in the second scene

as Nahida approaches her friends. Digetic sound is used as Nahida’s friends are

having a conversation as she is heading towards them.

Digetic sound is also used in the first scene whilst Nahida and Nadra are talking. The sound is of people moving around the building, this makes the audience feel and relate to the atmosphere as it feels like an everyday normal setting.

Action/Enigma codes: Nadra walks through the door. Why is Nadra so angry? Where is Nadra going? What did Nahida say about Nadra? Nadra barging Nahida on the

shoulder. Who are those girls? Where are they going?
