Dear Colleague,Three little words---meet, Learn, succeed---embody the reasons why I’m inviting all independent community pharmacists to the 114th annual ncpa convention and Trade exposition in sunny san Diego oct. 13—17. our annual convention is a great opportunity to network with your peers, see the latest products and services from vendors, and have a little fun, too. The centerpiece, of course, is continuing education. from break-fast to dinner, you’ll be exposed to more than 20 hours of useful and thought-provoking ce, delivered by industry experts. The wide variety of offerings will give you the tools needed to sharpen your patient care skills and improve your pharmacy’s performance in the year ahead. a number of our past attendees say they’ve taken home a tip from a col-league or a ce session that they’ve implemented in their practices and that has more than paid for the cost of their trip. our headquarters hotel is the four-star san Diego marriott marquis & marina, located on the bay less than 10 minutes from the airport and across the street from the convention center. The hotel has two heated outdoor pools so bring your bathing suit. at our convention, you’ll see first-hand that ncpa is committed to developing practical, profitable business solutions. ncpa, as always, is committed to advocacy---zealously championing the interests of inde-pendent community pharmacy in legislative, regulatory, and legal arenas. our convention programming reflects those values. please look through this preliminary program to get a flavor of what awaits you in san Diego at the best independent community pharmacy meeting, anytime, anywhere. The keynote speaker is Joe scarborough, co-host of msnbc’s “morning Joe,” the weekday talk show that de-bates the news of the day. The closing night entertainment headlines mike Love, a founding member of california’s own beach boys who wrote many of the songs and ballads that got them into the rock and roll Hall of fame. education, networking, and entertainment---it’s all included, along with most meals, in one low registration fee. check back for constant ce and other program updates at www.ncpanet.org and to register. please attend. Build store traffic, Build Profits: front-End overhaul one Day intensive (separate fee applies)This hands-on, one day seminar is full of walk-away-tools and is specifically designed to capitalize on the strengths of the community pharmacy. community pharmacies are unparalleled in their customer focus and connection, but without the corporate machine available to the chain competition for merchandis-ing, advertising, store layout, and external curb appeal, a large segment of local pharmacy patients may not know of the superior experience that awaits them in a community pharmacy. This pro-gram is designed to deliver the tools and knowledge the pharmacy owner needs to change the picture and create more pharmacy traffic and more profit. Topics: creating curb appeal; oTc basic to advanced; inventory: what, how many and how much; moving private label ; getting the word out—message and medium; effective signage; trade secrets: stores talking to stores.
