Short bio: Dennis L. Wilcox, Ph.D, is professor emeritus of public relations and past director of the School of Journalism & Mass Communications at San Jose State University, California. He is a Fellow and accredited (APR) member of the Public Relations Society of America, former chair of the PRSA Educator’s Academy, and past chair of the public relations division of the Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Com- munications (AEJMC). Among his eight books, Dr. Wilcox is the lead author of three current public relations texts that are widely used in U.S. universities and abroad: (1) Public Relations Strategies & Tactics, 10th edi- tion, and available in eight languages, including Serbian, (2) Think: Public Relations, 2nd edition and (3) Public Relations Writing & Media Techniques, 7th edition. His honors include PRSA’s “Outstanding Educator,” the Xifra-Award from the University of Girona (Spain), an honor- ary doctorate from the University of Bucharest, honorary membership in the Public Relations Society of Serbia, and recognition by the Public Relations Society of India for his “significant lead- ership in the growth of public relations education.” Dr. Wilcox is a member of the Interna- tional Public Relations Association (IPRA), the Public Relations Round Table of San Francisco, and the Arthur W. Page Society, an elite group of For- tune 500 senior communication execu- tives. Dr. Wilcox regularly consults and gives lectures/workshops to students and professionals in Europe, Southeast Asia, and South America. He has also given a number of lectures in recent years at the University of Belgrade and for the Public Relations Society of Serbia. He recently completed a six- week U.S. State Department assign- ment in Tbilisi, Georgia.
