Each National Championship finalist willreceive $3,500.
We had hoped to provide the finalNorth Central Division NHRA Jeg’s All-stars team standings in this issue ofContestant Hotline, but the postponementof the final few rounds of the NHRA LucasOil Drag Racing Series event at Edge-
water Sports Park event until Saturday, Aug. 10, left us with a numberof Allstars titles to be determined at press time.
Other than defending Allstars champions Jeff Wilson (Top AlcoholDragster), Rock Haas (Super Comp), and Rudy Matthews (SuperStreet), who are automatically seeded in the field as blockers, only LarryHodge (Stock), Scott Arnold (Super Comp), Keith McPherson (SuperGas), and Dustin Richardson (Super Street) have locked up Jeg’s All-stars spots.
The Top Alcohol Dragster Allstars qualifier could be Bill Reichert orKen Perry. Chuck Cheeseman and Marc White are tied in Top AlcoholFunny Car and are on opposite sides of the semifinal round pairings atEdgewater. David Billingsley and Jerry Arnold are contenders in Com-petition, and four drivers in Super Stock have a mathematical chance ofbeing the Jeg’s Allstars representative: Ricky Decker, Bret Voges, JimboFields, and David Brun.
Once the team has been decided, members will set their sights on theJeg’s Allstars competition, which will take place Sept. 28 at the Craftsman75th Anniversary NHRA Nationals presented by Racing Champions atRoute 66 Raceway. The North Central Division Jeg’s Allstars team will beseeking its sixth team title and share of the $100,000 purse.
The 2003 Jeg’s Allstars points will begin to be tallied at the NHRA
Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Beech Bend Raceway Park Aug.23-25.
