Current Procedures• Student helpers give talk on University life and
upcoming introductory events.
• Students receive a letter detailing their marks
• Failing students are informed they should contact their receiving academic units
• A spreadsheet of results is sent to academic units
• Reports and certificates sent out 2 weeks later
3
Current Problems• Students are missing out on important induction
events
• Lack of clarity re procedures for failing students
• Academic units lack information on how to interpret a student’s pre-sessional results
4
Solutions • Presentation to students by academic units towards
end of pre-sessional giving key information about course and what happens next
• Visit by students to academic units to familiarise themselves with the physical environment and meet staff
5
Solutions [Cont]• Passing students receive email from academic unit
confirming acceptance. Academic contact meets students and makes terms of acceptance clear
• Failing students to meet academic contact on results day and advised of procedures. Pre-sessional coordinator to liaise with academic units over interpreting student results
