World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates
This summit is one of the most important global events organized each year in different cities across the globe to promote democratic values and the significance of freedom and peace. The Summit covers three days of debates and meetings to discuss the challenges of global civilization and actions supporting democracy and world peace. The sessions cover civil rights, human rights, global health, women’s empow-erment, youth, education, nuclear disarmament, water/ sustainability, poverty, economic prosperity, and global peace.
The organizers of the 2015 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates are: Yunus Creative Lab, Inc., The Permanent Secretariat of Nobel Peace Laureates Summits, and The City of Atlanta. The organizing partners of the summit are The Carter Center, The King Center, the University System of Georgia, the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, and the Captain Planet Foundation. At the last World Nobel Peace Laureate Summit Committee meeting in Rome, Mohammad Bhuiyan, Ph.D., (President & CEO, Yunus Creative Lab, Inc.) and Shamima Amin (Chief Advisor, Yunus Creative Lab, Inc.) presented a highly competitive case for Atlanta along with a letter to the committee from the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus. The committee voted unanimously for Atlanta for the 2015 Summit even though three other major cities expressed their strong interests.
The 2015 Summit is timely because it will follow the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Martin Luther King’s receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and the opening of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
The 2015 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Atlanta could be the largest and most important event of global importance since the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. The Summit is not just to celebrate the presence of the Nobel Peace Laureates, but to focus on global as well as local issues relevant to each and every segment of our diverse community.
Yunus Creative Lab, Inc. (a 501 C (3) non-profit entity) has been given the main coordinating responsibility for the Atlanta Summit by the World Nobel Peace Laureates Secretariat. The Yunus Creative Lab, Inc. will work closely with the City of Atlanta, the State of Georgia, The King Center, The Carter Center, and many local, national, and international organi-zations and corporations.
The initiative taken up by Yunus Creative Lab, Inc., 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Prof. Muham-mad Yunus, the City of Atlanta, and others to organize the 15th Summit in Atlanta is not only prestigious, but also historical for the City of Atlanta and the State of Georgia.
Our goal is to assemble a record number of Nobel Peace Laureates and other global leaders at the 2015 Summit. We are expecting over two thousand VIP participants and five hundred students from all over the world. The Summit will also provide opportunities to thousands of local students to be involved. We have the opportunity to make this summit a grand success in a way that will make long lasting positive impacts on the City of Atlanta and the State of Georgia. We need your active participation and support for this once in a lifetime historic opportunity.
Summit guests will arrive on Saturday and some will arrive on Sunday November 14, 2015. There will be a VIP Reception on Sunday. The opening ceremony will be on Monday morning followed by a plenary session, VIP Luncheon, afternoon workshops, and a reception and dinner. Tuesday and Wednesday programs will also be very similar to Monday’s. The closing ceremony will take place on Wednesday and all the Laureates will go into a closed session to prepare the Summit Declaration. Guests will depart on late Wednesday and Thursday. There will be opportunities for individuals, organizations, and compa-nies to be involved.
