Dear families, My head is still spinning from all of the activities last week!
McTeacher night was a huge success. We made almost $500 from our percentage of the profits, and we also sold a lot of Scrip. We get 10% back on McDonald’s Scrip, so for every $10 card you buy, the school gets $1.00. It really does add up. As I mentioned before, we usually allocate the funds from McTeacher night to defray the cost of the Christmas program.
Speaking of the Christmas program. We had most of the 7th and 8th-grade classes try out for roles in the program last Thursday. The cast list is set and we have begun after school rehearsals this week. We will continue to rehearse 2-3 days a week until the big day, December 17th.
The Halloween Carnival, last Saturday, was also a great gathering. I am grateful for the Parents’ Club and the 8th-grade class and their families for their work in setting up, running, and taking down the carnival materials. We had a record number of cars for Trunk or Treat. Many thanks, especially, to Mr. Schultz who coordinated the whole event. The profits from the Carnival are divided between the 8th graders (for the Nature Bridge trip) and Parents’ Club (who will use it to fund other great school events).
As you know, this is conference week. Teachers spend hours preparing for conferences. It is an important time to check in with the teacher regarding academic and social growth. The teachers keep a Conference Card that is passed from grade to grade with the child. This is a good way to track progress from year to year, and if there are issues, to seek ways to address them. If you have a child in grades 2-8 the teachers will also be discussing the results of the MAP testing that your child took in September. If your child was in 3-7th grade at St. Mary’s last year, you will also see the results from the MAP testing last spring. I have looked over the results and am quite pleased with the levels of achievement of the students.
Wednesday, November 11th will be a day that the school & Educare are closed. It commemorates the day that the armistice was signed the ended World War I. It is not a movable holiday. It is always celebrated on that exact day, wherever that day falls in the week.
As a reminder, as we enter cold and flu season, please check in with the office if your child will not be at school. If your child has had a fever, they need to be non-febrile for 24 hours before coming back to class. The same rule applies to vomit. We, of course, want to have students at school, but not if they are unwell.
Blessings,Lauri Nauditt

If you had any medications in the office from last year, they have been destroyed. If you have any questions, please call the office. Thank you for your cooperation. Your child’s well-being is our greatest concern, this policy enables us to best achieve that goal.
