Magazine Statement
“To inform our readers and create an
interest in missions and impact them to
get involved in IEM’s missionary work
and mission in general.”
Theme for 2011
Prisoner of Christ Ephesian 3:1
God specializes
in carrying out
impossibilities,
provided His
people believe
that He can do
it!
IEM Founder : Rev. Dr. Theodore Williams

Our dear Prayer Warrior,
Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I
will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an
ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
(Ephesians 6: 19, 20)
PRAYER DIGEST 2011 is in your hands! What should you pray for our missionaries?
Pray for Apt Words: Many of us struggle to find the right words to express our
thoughts. To ensure that IEM missionaries speak fitting words in the context they
work in, they need to learn the culture and the language of the people among
whom they work. It is imperative that our communication of the Gospel is
relevant to the hearers. So when you pray for our missionaries, pray that God will
give them the ability to use appropriate words.
Pray for Adequate Courage: Boldness is another trait one should possess while
sharing the Gospel. Paul was a brave man who fearlessly faced the authorities
and rulers. He was empowered by the Spirit to stand courageously. He knew that
he was Christ’s Ambassador in
chains. An ambassador need
not be ashamed or nervous.
When you pray for our
missionaries, pray that they will
fearless as they represent Christ,
the supreme King.
Pray for Attractive
Presentation: Paul’s
declaration of his faith, his
experience with Christ and his
tact in sharing his views

always attracted everyone. He was called
Mercury (Acts 14:12) as he was the chief
speaker. Yet, I am amazed when Paul asks
the Ephesians to pray for the gift of
utterance. Pray that our missionaries will
defend the Cross, persuade them to Christ
and be able to convince them that there is
no other Way except Jesus.
Pray for An Abundance of Prayer Cells:
Any God-ordained missionary enterprise
thrives on an abundance of prayer. If you
are not part of a prayer cell, please join
one. If you are part of a prayer group,
start another one. In this way, prayer cells
can be multiplied. When we bend our
knees in humility and submission to God,
He strengthens our missionaries to stand
up under pressure in the mission field.
May the Lord use PRAYER DIGEST 2011 to help you to pray intelligently for our
missionaries.
With loving regards,
Yours in His joyful ministry,
P. John Wesley

Welcome to the Prayer ClosetPrayer Digest 2011 is in your hands! Apart from fuelling prayer for the Mission,
you will get to know the missionaries and their varied ministries. This
information is by no means exhaustive but we believe it is sufficient to generate
interest, inspiration and initiative in you so that God’s work, done in God’s way
will not lack God’s supply.
The primary purpose of the Prayer Digest 2011 is to be a companion to the
regular Praise & Prayer Calendar featured in every issue of our magazine. We
published a poster containing the photographs of our missionaries and staff in
mid 2010. God uses ordinary people to do exploits for Him in our land.
Prayer Digest 2011 is also a handbook on the Mission. It gives you a glimpse of
the ministries we are involved in and the people behind them. It will help you
understand how God led and nurtured this Mission through the last 46 years.
Prayer Digest 2011 will help you to pray intelligently for the Mission. We have
laid bare the Vision, Mission and Aspirations of IEM as given to us by God. These
are not attainable without the wholehearted support of people who are willing to
care for and share in our ministry.
Birthdays are landmarks of God’s faithfulness. In Prayer Digest 2011, we feature
the birthdays of our missionaries and their children. When you pray for them,
especially on their birthdays, you are actually involved in their lives, like
members of one family!
Friends, thank you for being partners with us for the sake of the Gospel. Welcome
to the prayer closet!
Faith Budget: A Faith Budget is one that projects
financial outlays without actually having the
resources. In other words, it begins with a zero
balance and depends on God to provide for needs in His own
sweet time! IEM has a faith budget of 11 crores for 2011-12. God
has never let us down!
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) These are documented
agreements between the Mission and churches, dioceses or like-
minded Missions usually geared towards the consistent financial
support of a specific mission field. We have forged several fruitful
MoUs with churches especially in the North East.

Conversion: Conversion is inner transformation it does not
happen under the influence of money, material or man’s
enticing words. True conversion happens when a person is
convicted of his sin, repents, believes in Jesus and begins to live a totally
transformed life.
Discipleship: Discipleship is to follow the footsteps of the Lord Jesus Christ,
when a person turns to the Lord; he becomes a disciple of the Lord Jesus. In
order to help him grow, our missionaries conduct various programmes so
that his knowledge of the Word and its application in day to day life will help
him radiate the love of Christ to others.
Missionary support: The Mission needs money! A single missionary support
is Rs 4500/- and for a couple it is Rs 6000/-. Of course this does not include
many other expenses.

Projects: A project is a specific
endeavour undertaken by our
missionaries after sensing an
urgent need among the people they
are working among. Currently
projects include Tribal children’s
Hostels, church building
constructions, Bible translation in
a specific language, disaster relief,
medical relief and so on.
Generally, projects are carried out
in partnership with like-minded
mission agencies.
Partnership: When like-minded
organizations work together for the
glory of God and to establish His
kingdom in the unreached areas.
We can’t do missionary work
alone. We work with the church
and like-minded mission agencies.

Mission Support Staff: These friends usually work in ouroffices and are committed to serve the Lord, not just at theirdesks but also in promoting the work of the Mission in theirrespective areas, after their complete their office work.
Publications and Electronic media: The Communication wing of the Mission, directly under the Church Ministries is involved in producing mission orientedbooks, Bible studies, promotional material and so on. CDs and DVDs featuringaudio and video presentations of messages and documentaries bring the ministryof the Mission to the homes of our supporters. Ask for an updated catalogue, place your orders and be challenged to get involved in missionary work.
Bible Translation: Bible translation is a process by which the scripture of theBible is translated from the original Greek or Hebrew into a hitherto unwrittenlanguage. It involves learning the language, forming a new script, writinggrammar, looking for words that come close to the original meaning and finallywriting the books one by one. It takes approximately 15 to 20 years to completethe New Testament alone but the investment of time, energy and skills is worth it.
Literacy: Literacy and Bible translation go hand in hand. In order to understandthe Bible, people need to read it. Literacy facilitates this. Missionaries learn thelanguage and teach the believers how to read and write a hitherto unwrittenlanguage. Adult literacy programmes are conducted and the results arerewarding indeed. Literacy is much more than knowing the alphabets and beingable to read a few words or sentences. It is to teach an illiterate person how toread, write and communicate with understanding. This is for both where Bible isavailable and also where no scripture is available.
