1 Praise the Lord for the strong end to our financial year.

2 Pray for the Executive Board as they begin the search for a new CEO to lead Water Street.

3 Praise God that we can provide a cool place in the heat of summer for those who have no home.

4 Pray that our residents would find ways to seek release from their own struggles and find their joy in the Lord.

5 Pray for the Finance Committee as they review the budget and prepare for the new financial year.

6 Praise God for a healthy baby boy born recently to one of our staff members!

7 Pray that God would fill the need for volunteers in the reception area of our health clinic.

8 Pray that God would provide strong candidates to fill open positions on staff.

9 Praise God for bringing Nicole Mobley as our new volunteer coordinator. Pray that she will learn her role quickly.

10 Pray for wisdom to discern compassion versus enabling when helping those in need.

11 Praise God that one of our graduates is moving into his own home and beginning a new job in August!

12 Pray for us as we implement changes to programs and staff. Pray that staff would be encouraged.

13 Praise God for the fresh produce provided to Water Street through our generous donors.

14 Pray for businesses that participate in the EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit program), that they would choose to support the Wonder Club and Student Alumni Scholarship Program.

15 Praise God for our faithful volunteers. (We love our volunteers!)

16 Pray for staff that they would find rest and relaxation as they take vacation.

17 Praise God for a graduate that recently married. Pray that they would have God be the center of their relationship.

18 Praise God for our community of donors that brought us through a rough financial spot!

19 Pray for the Wonder Club teachers as they return to the classroom today to prepare for the 2014-2015 school year.

20 Praise God for donations of insulin to carry over some of our diabetic patients until they were approved for supplies through other sources.

21 Pray for wisdom and direction for the Water Street Board of Directors and the Health Services Board of Directors as they plan for 2014-2015.

22 Pray for the mothers with children who are residing at Water Street. Pray that they would find new direction as they seek to build a strong and healthy life for their children.

23 Praise God for donors who participated in our new Ambassador program that helps raise money toward our Annual Golf Tournament.

24 Praise God for recent grants we received to help with Women’s Ministries programs and capital needs for Water Street.

25 Pray for our children as a new school year begins. Pray for safety as they travel to and from school.

26 Pray for a smooth transition for residents who are moving into new homes in the next few weeks.

27 Pray for the parents and students who are entering a new phase of life as little ones enter school for the first time.

28 Praise God for a grant that will help us treat patients dealing with trauma. This grant will provide for a more relaxed and less stressful experience.

29 Pray for the plans that have been set in place to help us serve the homeless in our community.

30 Praise God that 32 former Wonder Club children are able to attend local private schools this fall to continue their Christian education through the Alumni Scholarship Program of Water Street.

31 Praise God that our team is successfully transitioning to a new electronic health record in Health Services.

Move Out Day

Kimberly moved out of the Women’s Shelter! She came here lost, in need of income and desperate for support along her spiritual journey. On the first day in July, I watched as she transitioned into her own housing. While at Water Street Kimberly found something foundational that inspired her to change. With a steady income and close female friends to support her toward her goals, she is moving onward in her journey. I can tell you that Kimberly now has women in her life she can count on. Community is just one of the awesome benefits God provides here at the Mission.

As I look around the shelter at the other women here, I can speak on their behalf and say we all like “move out days” and long for our own. There is a basic understanding of what is required: steady income, adequate housing, transportation, medical support and Bible inspired spiritual support. However, each of us has a unique timeline and approach to moving out, because we are each uniquely made in God’s image with our own story. My story is not Kimberly’s and that’s okay. I have had my own experiences with jumping over exciting milestones; each one brings me closer to the day when I close this door and open the one to my new home.

For now, I am glad to support and experience move out days, like Kimberly’s, while trusting in God for His provision and strength to carry me into my own future.•
