A Message From Our Pastor.

Happy Mother’s Day. It’s a phrase that falls off our tongue. But, what is it

we are really saying? It’s a celebration of the most selfless gift, being a

parent. Whether living or deceased, whether mother or grandmother,

whether aunt or big sister, so many people in our lives have made us better

people.

This mother’s day will be a little different we haven’t been out to the mall for a piece of pottery or

a nice blouse. Of course we can order online gourmet chocolates or a beautiful bouquet, but, I

think the most important and the most beautiful gift we can give our mothers is a hand written

note listing specific incidents in detail when our mother was the only person who understood us,

accepted us as we were and gave us the courage to go on.

That doesn’t mean they thought we weren’t making a mistake if that was the case, that doesn’t

mean they didn’t wish that they could change our mind, but what it does mean is that our mother

is standing behind us supporting us and letting us know that they will never stop loving us. A

mother’s love is the truest, strongest love that we will ever know. And even if our mother has

gone before us, her love is one of the most powerful things we will ever have.

This year make mother’s day very special for your mother. Let her know she means the world in

your heart. Let her know that you know that whatever the situation was whether small or large,

whether it was going to fifth grade in a new school or watching your dreams die as you went

through the pain of divorce, it is her love that pulled you through.

God bless you,

Father Bob Bruso

Memorial Day Flagging

of Veterans’ Graves at

St. Cecilia’s Cemetery

We have been contacted by the Veterans’ office that we will once again honor our veterans by placing flags on their graves. In the past, we have gathered the Saturday before Memorial Day and flagged all the graves at once. This method will not work under the current pandemic. Respecting social distancing we will start at the beginning of the week of May 17th and will continue throughout the week until every grave is flagged. The exact logistics are still being worked out. If you are interested in helping please call the rectory at 978-537-6541 or email us [email protected].

When you come to the church for private prayer, please consider donating to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Cecilia’s Parish. With your donations we have been able to provide food, emergency shelter, rental assistance, gas money, heating expenses, and aid in avoiding utility shut-off as well as several other services to individuals and families with children in our area.

Pope Francis said “generosity enlarges the heart”. May God abundantly bless your large, generous hearts for allowing us to do His work in service to others. Please be assured that you are in our prayers.

Pope Francis encourages

faithful to pray Rosary at home

“The month of May is a time when the People of God express with particular intensity their love and devotion for the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is traditional in this month to pray the Rosary at home within the family. The restrictions of the pandemic have made us come to appreciate all the more this “family” aspect, also from a spiritual point of view .

For this reason, I want to encourage everyone to rediscover the beauty of praying the Rosary at home in the month of May. This can be done either as a group or individually; you can decide according to your own situations, making the most of both opportunities. The key to doing this is always simplicity, and it is easy also on the internet to find good models of prayers to follow .
