PATC Flight Camp 2020

Our PurposePrairie Aviation Training Centre offers an annual summer flight camp to twelve youth (ages 14-

18) who have an interest in flying. This is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse into the aviation

world before committing to it as a career. Campers will learn some of the basics of flying,

understand what’s involved in getting professional licenses and hear about some of the

opportunities that currently exist for pilots in the airlines and mission organizations.

Our PlanCampers will take part in outdoor activities, classroom ground briefings and airplane flights,

including an introduction to aerobatics (for those that are interested). They will learn how to

control an airplane, climb, descend and even fly to another airport!

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, flight lessons will be flown in our full motion simulator.

Through times around the campfire and interactions with staff and students, we count it a

privilege to share about Jesus Christ yet allowing youth to make their own faith decisions. Our

campers come from different backgrounds and we want all to feel welcome!

Our StaffOur Camp Flight Instructors are all Transport Canada licensed Flight Instructors who have

considerable experience in flight training and/or overseas mission flying. We use the Cessna

172 and Citabria (tail-wheel) airplanes and have access to the vast Alberta prairies where we

can take off and land on either paved runways or grass farm airstrips.

Our Camp Student Leaders have a passion for Jesus Christ and for flying. They are excited to get

to know the campers and have some fun!

What You Need to Do1. Register at www.patc.ca.

• Online at www.prairie.edu/flight-camps (look for the yellow “Register” button).

• Complete the Registration and Medical Information Details forms of this brochure and mail or

email to the address given.

2. Complete the ride waiver and photo waiver, scan and send it to aviation@prairie.edu (or mail with the other forms) by June 1, 2020.

More InformationThe cost for the flight camp is $1,300 CAD + GST. This includes accommodations, meals, ground training, flight time, and all planned activities for the week. A deposit is required at the time of application and is part of the camp fee. Final payment should be received by PATC on or before June 1, 2020. Registrations and fees received on or before April 1, 2019 qualify for an early bird discount of $100. Parents and/or guardians are invited to join us at the conclusion of flight camp for a BBQ on Thursday noon (July 2). This is a great opportunity for you to hear all about what was accomplished through the week of flight camp.

Once we have received application forms, we will send you the acceptance package containing further information – which will include travel itineraries, what to bring, etc.

Airplane Ride Waiver Form(for minors)

EVENT OR ACTIVITY: IN CONSIDERATION for allowing the minor to participate in any way in the event or activity encompassed by this Agreement and in particular for permitting the minor to travel by aircraft or other conveyance in connection therewith the parent or guardian (as the case may be) for such person and for the minor, hereby agree as follows:

1. THE MINOR AND PARENT OR GUARDIAN concur that they have been provided with all information reasonably possible concerning the event or activity mentioned above and have inspected or will inspect to the event or activity may be conducted. The undersigned agree that if at any time in or upon such places they believe some-thing is unsafe, it will be brought to the attention of a teacher or other supervisor of the event or activity and will remove themselves from the place and the minor will withdraw from participation in the event or activity. 2. THE MINOR AND PARENT OR GUARDIAN HEREBY ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR AND RISK OF BODILY INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE due to negligence or releases (as identified below) or otherwise, while in or upon such places for any purpose and in any way participating in the activity or event. The undersigned recognize and understand that there are risks and dangers associated with participating in the event or activity and in particular with travel associated therewith that could cause severe bodily injury, disability and death. Furthermore, the minor and parent or guardian acknowledge that Prairie Bible Institute and its teachers, supervisors, directors, and officers have no control over the maintenance or safe operation of any conveyance utilized by any common carrier in connection with the event or activity. Further, the risks and dangers associated with participating in the event or activity and entry into the places are assumed notwithstanding. 3. THE MINOR AND PARENT OR GUARDIAN, release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue Prairie Bible Institute and its teachers, supervisors, directors and officers, participants, owners, lessees and lessors of the premises and place used to conduct the event or activity and their officers, agents and employees, all for the purposes herein referred to as releases, from all ability to losses or damages of the minor and/or parent or guardian on account of any injury, including but not limited to the death of the parent, guardian, or minor or damage to property caused or alleged to be cause in whole or in part by the negligence of the releases or otherwise. 4. THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN hereby agrees to indemnity and save and hold harmless, the releases and each of them from and loss, liability, damage or cost that may occur due to the presence of the parent, the guardian or the minor in any places or in any while participating in the event or activity and whether caused by negligence of the releases or otherwise. The parent or guardian further recognize and agree they are executing this Waiver and Release of Liability and Indemnity Agreement on behalf of themselves and on behalf of the minor.

THE MINOR AND PARENT OR GUARDIAN HAS READ AND VOLUNTARILY SIGNS THE WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT AND DOES SO VOLUNTARILY AND WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS ARE BEING GIVEN UP.
