Electronics Project - Arduino

-Arduino is a simple microcomputer board used to develop and write open source software.

-Arduino boards can be used by themselves, or can be ran alongside software such as Director and Flash.

-The Arduino is currently very popular between designers and artists, and was originally created to teach Interaction Design.

-In our Arduino sessions, we used the IDE software to program our own Arduinos. By connecting them to breadboards, and using electrical connectors, we programmed our Arduinos to power green, amber and red lights in certain sequences.

Exhibition - Arnolfini, Bristol

Three main exhibits;

-Fun With Software

-Coal Fired Computer and Tantalum Memorial

-Heath Bunting ユ s Status Project

Fun With Software

- An early encounter of software and hardware and “it’s relation to humour and fun”

- Use of old equipment being portrayed as art is used to contradict the mundane and task based use of technology in current times

Coal Fired Computer and Tantalum Memorial

- Focused on the “displacement of coal production to emerging superpowers like India and China after the UK miner’s strike in the 80’s”

- ‘Coal Fired Computer’

- Tantalum Memorial to the people who have died as a result of the Coltan Wars in the Congo

Heath Bunting’s Status Project

- “Contemporary understandings of class systems for human beings and their management”

- ‘Maps of Influence’ that give an insight of networks and mobility which represent our individual relationships to the UK system

- Whether or not we are truly able to distinguish the ‘face’ we want to present to the world each day.
