Rear Galley Layout

Lounge can be set up with side facing sofa...
The Rear Galley layout has long been a favoured layout
for campervans, allowing for separate lounge and galley
areas, in recent years models have been available with a
cassette toilet in the rear corner, now we’ve developed
this idea further. In our rear galley van the cassette toi-
let is stored in a locker out of the way, then slid out into
the aisle when needed, the wardrobe door is opened to
close off the rear area from the rest of the van, giving
you the privacy and comfort of your own separate wash-
room in a compact van! Arranging the loo to slide out
this way ensures the large storage area above it is not
wasted and allows the space to fit a full height ward-
robe. We have received many favourable comments for
achieving such a large amount of storage space in a com-
pact van!
The lounge area features two comfortable forward facing
travel seats with seat belts. These easily fold down to
make 2 single berths and a centre infill cushion turns
them from singles into a large partial double. The seat
behind the driver can be left flat and the centre cushion
then doubles as a backrest to make a side facing sofa so
you can enjoy the views through the side door.
In the galley you’ll find a 2 burner hob and grill with the
option of an oven, or if you prefer, a glass lidded 2
burner hob and sink combination unit can be fitted.
Worktop area is increased with a clip-in extension. The rear galley layout provides a huge amount of storage in a
SWB van which is increased further in the high top version of this layout. The Renault Trafic is particularly suited
to this, having a spacious high top with a 6’2” internal height after conversion compared with the Ford Transit
Custom which has about 5’10” with the standard Ford high top. The Transit, being 3 inches wider than the other
vans in this class allows more space in the aisle, this is particularly noticeable in the lounge. Alternatively, we can
fit a Drivelodge high top to the Transit which gives 6’2” of headroom in the galley. Our conversion to the high top
Trafic has a no cost option of one or two fold down single roof beds suitable for children.
Water - The Trafic base features a 30 litre inboard fresh water tank, sited unobtrusively so little storage space is
lost. As standard the Transit has a 32 litre underfloor tank (which can be heated and insulated if increased win-
terisation is required) or an inboard tank if a Bulk LPG tank is fitted. An underfloor waste tank with an electri-
cally operated drain valve can be specified so you can empty the tank by simply driving over the campsite drain
point and flicking a switch without leaving the driving seat! Waste tank size: Trafic - 20 L, Transit - 30 L
... or single seats
Excellent storage Provision, the sliding cas-sette toilet allows us to fit a full height wardrobe.
Galley quickly converts to a private washroom
Gas - Our gas locker is large enough to take a 6kg Calor
gas bottle, these are less expensive to refill and hold more
gas than the Campingas alternative. On the Transit Cus-
tom we can fit a 16 litre under floor bulk LPG tank, buy-
ing gas from the LPG station costs less than a third of the
price of bottled gas!
Electricity - Our vans feature high quality, fully specified
240v AC and 12v DC electrical systems. We use the Sar-
gent charging and distribution system as found in many
British built motorhomes. We fit an efficient Vitrifrigo 50
litre compressor fridge, although we can fit an absorption
type if you intend to spend long periods off grid. All our
interior lighting is by low energy and super bright LEDs
to give exceptionally good lighting. Our optional solar
charging system uses an MPPT regulator for increased
efficiency. A microwave oven can be fitted to run from
mains electricity.
Our designs are guided by some simple principles: identify as much space as possible for storage, make the
lockers and storage areas as large as possible and make the storage as flexible as possible by providing adjust-
able and removable shelves and large doors. We select quality, light coloured materials to give our interiors a
light and spacious feel, Our cabinet work is CNC machined for accuracy. We offer a selection of upholstery pat-
terns and colours

Base Vehicles
We can build the RG500 on the 5.0m long short wheelbase Ford Transit Custom and Renault Trafic (Fiat Tal-
ento, Nissan NV300 and Vauxhall Vivaro (to 2019) are identical) as either an elevating roof or high top van.
For many, their campervan simply has to be a VW and we can build the RG500 on the Transporter, however,
due to the VW’s internal shape and structure there are a number of aspects of the conversion that are com-
promised. A smaller fridge must be used and also the narrower Thetford C200 cassette loo which is now dis-
continued (we have a small stock of these for this purpose!) If you are not a committed VW enthusiast and
instead value the practicality of the conversion over the base van we would recommend the Ford or Renault.
We use the Ford Transit Custom 300 in the ‘Trend’ specification which includes additional equipment, The
Renault Trafic is in the ‘Business’ specification as it is more cost effective to add equipment as required. The
table below contains prices of popular options, Ford and Renault have many other options, details can be
found on their websites, through their dealers or by contacting us. The Transit is slightly wider and heavier
than the Trafic, we select the base van model to give a payload of 500kg after conversion (increased payloads
are available). Both vans are very comfortable and quiet to drive, the Ford has a slightly better ride quality
and is available with an automatic gearbox. Both vans have a 3 year manufacturers warranty.

will have a driver’s airbag only. Conversion Only: Trafic £14,950, Transit Custom £15,950
Our conversion work to both new and used vans carries a 2 yr warranty.
