Outline

Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to see which college best fit my needs and expectations. I will compare ten different colleges and use quantitive analysis to find the answer to my questions.

Hypothesis: I want to attend a college which is 20-30 minutes away from my house. I want to go to a college which is at least in top 30 nationally recognized schools. It should offer good psychology and accounting programs. It must have student facilities like dormitories, apartments, academic help, clubs and groups, library, etc. Entertainment and shopping must be with in 20 minutes. It will be great if there are student jobs available on campus. I am indifferent about the weather because I like the rain in Washington.

Theory: I think Green River Community College should be the perfect school for me because it provides psychology and accounting programs. It has apartments across the street from the campus. There are a lot of activities around it. It takes only 10-15minutes from my house to get there. A lot of international students come to study there. There are many yearly and permanent clubs, library, study helpers, etc. There are jobs available on campus too. Also, it is located in Washington so the weather doesn’t change and I get to stay close to my friends and family.

Procedure

For this experiment I have created a 20-question, multiple-choice survey questions. Each college completes the survey. Following each question there will be 2-4 answer choices. Each answer choice will be a weighted score. After each school has taken the survey, their points will be added up to determine which school is best-suited for me—the school with the most amount of points will be the one that is chosen.

Weighting System

There are three categories of the questions:a. 20- point questions: these question will

determine whether or not I will go to the school.

b. 15-point questions: the answers to these questions are important but, they do not necessarily determine whether I will go to the school or not.

c. 5- point questions: these questions are not a very big component but, they provide some information about other things besides academics.

Final ThoughtsThis experiment showed me that I should

look at other options that I have instead of sticking to the one which I “think” is the best for me. I think it cleared up my confusion about majoring. I think out of accounting an psychology I pick psychology as my major. I would recommend anyone who is having trouble or researching about colleges to go through this process. Also, that time management is a huge part of doing everything in life.

The hardest part in this project was to write out question without thinking about the specific college that I wanted to go to. I wrote the questions that fit my college the best, even though I tried not to do so.

Looking at the examples was very helpful even though I was unaware of how to differentiate between a good and a bad one.

Sickness slowed my research down. Madrigal Feast took a big chunk of time out of my schedule. But, I tried to manage my time.
