WELCOME
PRELUDE
CALL TO WORSHIP* from Psalm 111
Minister: Praise the LORD. I will extol the LORD with all my heart in the council of
the upright and in the assembly. Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered
by all who delight in them.
All: Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever.
Minister: He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and
compassionate. He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant
forever.
All: The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy.
They are steadfast forever and ever, done in faithfulness and uprightness. He pro-
vided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever-- holy and awe-
some is his name.
HYMNS*
All Authority and Power NEANDER
All authority and power, ev’ry status and domain,
Now belongs to him who suffered our redemption to obtain;
Angels, demons, kings and rulers, over all shall Jesus reign!
All the nations owe him worship, ev’ry tongue shall call him Lord;
How are men to call upon him if his name they have not heard?
Therefore go and make disciples, preach his gospel, spread his word.
A ll the time he will be with us, always, to the end of days,
With his own believing people, who keep steadfast in his ways;
God the Father, Son, and Spirit, bless us, and to him the praise.
O Worship the King LYONS
O worship the king, all glorious above,
O gratefully sing his power and his love;
Our shield and defender, the ancient of days,
Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.
O tell of his might, O sing of his grace,
Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
And dark is his path on the wings of the storm.
Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
In thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;
Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!
PRAYER OF INVOCATION AND ADORATION* Rev. Ronnie Rowe
CONFESSION OF FAITH from Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapters 14.2-3
Minister: How does Saving Faith respond to the Word of God?
All: By this faith, a Christian believes to be true whatever is revealed in the Word,
because of the authority of God himself speaking in it. He also responds differently
to what each particular passage contains—obeying the commands, trembling at the
threatenings, and embracing the promises of God for this life and that which is to
come.
Minister: Will a Saving Faith endure to the end?
All: This faith varies in degrees. I t may be weak or strong. I t may often, and in many
ways, be assailed and weakened, but it gains the victory. I t matures in many to the
attainment of a full assurance through Christ, who is both the author and the
perfecter of our faith.
SONG OF PRAISE
Father, Father of All Things FATHER OF ALL THINGS
Father, Father of all things, we bless you.
Father, we love and adore you. O Father, your children praise you.
Father, Father of light and power,
Father, your greatness surrounds the earth
And all of your children declare you are Lord.
Jesus, only Son of the living God,
Jesus you willingly suffered that thro’ you we might know His love.
Jesus, cleanse us, your people, and fill us.
Pour down your Spirit upon us
That we as your body may show forth your love.
Spirit, sent by the Son to dwell in us,
Living and working within us to make us more like Jesus;
Spirit, fall down upon us as fire.
Fill and equip us with power
And draw from us love and praise to the Lord.
PUBLIC CONFESSION OF SIN "
Minister: Let us confess our sins before our most holy and righteous God.
All: Heavenly Father, you know our hearts. You know that, although we confess
your sovereign care over our lives, we too often live as practical atheists – boasting in
our accomplishments, despairing in our failures, and doubting during periods of un-
certainty and suffering. Forgive us for our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteous-
ness. For Jesus sake, renew us in the Holy Spirit to live as your children. Amen.
PRIVATE CONFESSION OF SIN
ASSURANCE OF PARDON Acts 10:43

giveness of sins through His name.

INTERCESSORY AND OFFERTORY PRAYER Rev. Ronnie Rowe
MUSICAL OFFERING
SCRIPTURE READING* Hebrews 11.8-19
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to
receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he
went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and
Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city that
has foundations, whose designer and builder is God. 11 By faith Sarah herself received
power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who
had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants
as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the sea-
shore. 13 These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having
seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers
and exiles on the earth. 14 For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a
homeland. 15 If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they
would have had opportunity to return. 16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a
heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared
for them a city. 17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had
received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, 18 of whom it was said,
"Through Isaac shall your offspring be named." 19 He considered that God was able even to
raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

HYMN OF RESPONSE*
My Hope is Built on Nothing Less SOLID ROCK
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name.
Chorus:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand! All other ground is sinking sand!
When darkness veils his lovely face, I rest on his unchanging grace;
In ev'ry high and stormy gale my anchor holds within the veil.
Chorus
When he shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in him be found;
Dressed in his righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne.
Chorus
WORDS OF INSTITUTION Rev. Rob Hamby
THE LORD’S TABLE
All those who trust in Christ alone for their salvation, are baptized, and belong to a Bible believing church are invited to
partake of the Lord’s Supper together, feeding on the grace of God by faith. If you have not put your trust in Christ,
please allow the elements to pass you by and take this opportunity to meditate on the meaning of the Gospel.
A word to parents: Baptized children are invited to the table after they have made a profession of faith and been received
as communing members by the Session of the church to which their parents belong.
Please hold the bread, and we will partake together. Please drink the cup as you receive it.
The outer ring is grape juice and the inner rings are wine.

Amazing Grace AMAZING GRACE
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed!
Thro' many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come;
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.
When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise than when we've first begun.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
CLOSING HYMN*
O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing AZMON
O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer's praise,
The glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace.
My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim,
To spread through all the earth abroad, the honors of thy Name.
He breaks the power of reigning sin, he sets the pris'ner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean, his blood availed for me.
He speaks and, listening to his voice, new life the dead receive;
The mournful, broken hearts rejoice; the humble poor believe.
BENEDICTION*
Minister: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the
fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Men’s Spring Bible Studies (beginning the week of January 14-18)
● A Praying Life– taught by Rob Hamby, Wednesdays at PPC, 7am (beginning Jan16th)
If we are honest, we must acknowledge that we pray very little. When we do pray, we
tend to turn prayer into some kind of religious performance or protocol to impress God
and those around us. As a result, we miss out on the rich grace and fellowship of our
Heavenly Father given to us through prayer. If you want to grow in the joy and power of
a praying life, this study is for you.
● Identifying and Confronting the Causes of Discouragement and Decline in the Christian Life-
taught by Ronnie Rowe, Thursdays at PPC,7pm (beginning January 17th)
In this series we will study select passages of Scripture that address the causes of and reme-
dies for discouragement and decline in the Christian life. Many of these lessons will be
adapted from the book, Spiritual Depression: It's Causes and Cure by David Martyn Lloyd-
Jones.
● The Book of Exodus– taught by David Rea, Fridays at PPC, 7am (beginning January 18th)
The book of Exodus is about a journey: a journey out of Egypt, but more particularly a
journey from a land where God's power, sovereignty and continuing interest in His peo-
ple could be easily questioned, to a place where God dwelt in the midst of his people.
Exodus describes God's power, His redemption of His people, His covenant requirements
at Sinai, and the rules of His worship. Please join us in our study of this wonderful book.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Sunday School Classes Resume January 13th at 9am!
• The Book of Acts: How the Power of the Gospel Rocks Our World
In this sequel to Luke’s Gospel, a handful of ordinary Christians in Jerusalem have come
out of hiding to boldly share the gospel, newly empowered by the Spirit of Christ. These
simple, uneducated believers “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6) in less than 30
years, as the gospel spread throughout the Roman Empire. Join us as we study this thrilling
account of the church’s beginnings, which provides insights into its nature, message and
purpose, and their implications for us as its members. Taught by Dave Nelson in room 136.
• The Letter of Paul to the Galatians: "No Other Gospel"
In the book of Galatians, Paul warns the church against deserting Christ and turning to a
different Gospel than the one offered to us in Christ. Paul's warning continues to be rele-
vant for us today. Like the Galatians, we tend to lose our way and build our lives on coun-
terfeit gospels that promise us freedom but leave us enslaved. Taught by Rob Hamby in
Room 135.
