Monaghan LEADER Funding Programme Public
Information Sessions
What is eligible for funding under the New LEADER
Programme? In order to find out whether your project idea is
eligible, and/or to find out more about how the Monaghan LEADER funding programme, don’t miss the series of public information events planned for September. There are some unique differences between this and previous LEADER programmes that it is important to be aware of. For example, many elements of the new LEADER funding will be based on competitive ‘Time-limited Calls’ which will involve opening and closing dates for submission of ‘Expression of Interest’s. ‘Time-limited Calls’ with a pre-defined budget will assist in ensuring that only the best and worthiest projects will be approved for grant aid. You can find out about the process of application for LEADER funding and pick-up your ‘expression of interest’ form at one of these
information events. Click on the following link for further informa-tion on the Monaghan LEADER application process.
Public Information sessions continue next week:
Monday 19th September 7.30pm Ballybay Wetlands Centre
Tuesday 20th September 2.00pm St.Joseph’s Parochial Centre,
Monaghan
LOCAL/COMMUNITY BASED
ENVIRONMENTAL/SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS
Are you involved in a local/community based environmental or
sustainability project, or planning one? Would you like some in-
sight into what works in setting up and sustaining local environ-
mental/sustainability projects?
Researchers at Trinity College Dublin are currently carrying out re-
search into what stimulates ‘green’ transition in local communities and
have identified a range of factors and methods which can help bring
about this change. They are holding a number of short interactive
workshops around the country, and are inviting those involved in lo-
cal/community based environmental or sustainability projects (or inter-
ested in the issue) to attend. Should you wish to attend then please
contact Dr. Vincent Carragher – details below.
THE WORKSHOPS
There are 6 workshops on community projects currently scheduled
(more may be added):
• Westport (Co. Mayo) – 20th September
• Aran Islands – 27th September
• Ballymun (Dublin) – 13th October
• Killaloe (Co. Clare) – 4th November
• Cloughjordan (Co. Tipperary) – 27th October
• Birdhill (Co. Tipperary) – 3rd October

LOCAL/COMMUNITY BASED
ENVIRONMENTAL/SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS
The workshop events will consist of the presentation of the range of
different factors and methods for community based green transition
and the subsequent selection and ranking of the factors by the par-
ticipants based on their own experience. The event will last about
an hour and the time of the event will be given on contacting the or-
ganisers using the contact details below.
The main aim is that both communities and those involved in the
community sector will better understand what actions to take to sup-
port green transition. Many of the factors may also apply to sustain-
ability in the workplace.
HOLD YOUR OWN WORKSHOP
There is also an opportunity for you to hold a Workshop for your
own Local/Community based environmental or sustainability project
(current or planned), delivered by TCD researchers, following the
above format. Should you wish to hold your own workshop, then
please contact Dr. Vincent Carragher.
