Course Goal:

• To develop in the student the basic knowledge, skills and attitude (mindset) essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for the protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding citizens right to self-defense.

Basic Defensive Handgun Skills

• Upon completion of this lesson, you should be able to:– Explain and demonstrate the fundamentals of

defensive marksmanship.– Explain defensive accuracy.– Shoot targets in the center of mass using aimed

shots from a two-handed standing position.– Explain the differences between cover and

concealment, and identify examples of each.– Shoot targets in the center of mass:

• Using a flash sight picture.• Using cover and concealment.• From a kneeling position.• At close range using point shooting.
