Electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science declared major C. Sophomore or junior academic major standing D. Attending school full time E. Nomination from electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science faculty F. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher II. Award Specifications A. Sophomores: four $2500.00 awards (payable half in fall 2012 and half in spring 2013) B. Juniors: four $3000.00 awards (payable half in fall 2012 and half in spring 2013) III. Application Deadline A. Completed applications must be received no later than April 2, 2012 B. Mail to: Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Attn: Shawnda Hoops 2350 NE Hopkins Court Pullman, WA 99163 IV. Notification of Awards A. Applicants will be notified of their award standing no later than May 15, 2012 B. Payment will be made directly to award recipient (payable half in fall and half in spring) V. Application Materials A. Completed application document (see below) B. One page essay (maximum) addressing the following: Why are you studying electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science? What are your career goals after graduation? How do you believe your chosen professional field impacts society? What do you see as the major challenges for professionals in your field in the next 10 years? How have you been financing your college education? From a financial standpoint, what impact would this scholarship have on your education? C. Nomination letter from a current electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science faculty member (see nomination form) D. Current official transcripts E. Academic outline and advising plan F. Possible interview with SEL representatives (to be scheduled once finalists are selected)
