FAQ – PowerlineHD Ethernet Adpaters• Why isn’t it grounded (3 plugs)?• The lack of a ground allows the user to plug it in up-side down in the top outlet, if they

have to put a power brick in the bottom outlet and need the bottom outlet to be uncovered.  The product works without a ground.

• How many total Powerline adapters can be installed in a home?• Up to 10, but more than 4 are very rare.

• Is there surge protection in the device?• Yes.  A power surge will not fry the device.

• Can it coexist with Linksys and other powerline products on the market? • Yes, but Linksys powerline is not selling in many places, and NETGEAR is over 95% of

the home installed base in the US.

• Can it work off the sub-box / node?• Yes

• Can you use this outdoors?  Can it be made secure from outsider plugging into my network?

• Yes, but is not recommended, as water might get into the little vent holes of the unit.  Yes, it can be made password protected.   It is much harder to hack than wireless, for which a person can be parked in their car two houses down...

• How do you assign addresses / security so your apartment neighbors don’t connect to your PL?

• Through the security utility in the CD.  The password is on the unit itself, or you could set your own.
