SOUNDS LIKE ME!
If you’ve ever taken to tidying up your tip of a
room, baked cakes for hours, organised your
nail varnish, placed your CDs in alphabetical
order or applied online to go hang gliding in
the Himalayas just to avoid that nasty word
‘revision’, then read on!
Help is at hand!
GETTING IT RIGHT NOW!
Know your exam timetable.
Get rest, peace and quiet the night before an exam.
Listen to some relaxing music (that doesn’t mean Slipknot or Public Enemy).
Put your love life on hold – an intense relationship could distract you from your exams.
ARE YOU GETTING IT RIGHT!
Too many chocolate treats during revision will make you sick. Stick to your normal eating routine or have healthy snacks. Think brain food (nuts, blueberries, fish)
Have back-up copies of any revisionnotes you have on computer.
Wear comfortable clothes whilst you’re revising.
SUCCESSFUL STUDENT OR PARTY POOPER?
• If you answer ‘YES’ to most of the following questions, you’re in the right frame of mind to start revision.
• If you find yourself ticking the ‘NO’ box frequently, then it’s time to get your head down and start REVISING so you are successful and can the celebrate in August.
BE HONEST NOW…
1. Have you always handed coursework in on time?
or 2. Have you caught up with any work
missed?
or 3. Do you present your work neatly?
or
TOTALLY HONEST!4. Do you read the teacher’s
comments and corrections on your work?
or
5. Do you know what topics will be coming up on your exam papers?
or
6. Have you ever done a day’s revision?
or
THERE WERE SOME ‘NO’S IN THERE???
THEN THIS POWERPOINT
PRESENTATIONS HASN’T BEEN
A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME ? …
WOO HOO!
Right, let’s get to work and do
yourselves proud!
MR FORD
I was king of the flash cards. I made up the flash
cards (different colours for different topics) and
then used every bus journey to and from school
to do 'look, cover, write, check'.
I would do 'team revision' after school with
friends and we would test each other.

ORGANISE

STEP 1: ORGANISE YOUR SUBJECTS /
TIMETABLE / TIME
Draw up a revision timetable that includes
ALL of your subjects.
Make sure that your exam timetable starts
from TODAY until your LAST exam!
Be realistic – allow for times when you just
can’t make yourself revise & don’t feel guilty
about missing a day! Go to the sports clubs, music clubs, karate,
swimming etc.
STEP 2: LEARN YOUR STUFF!
Listen to your teachers when they give you a list of topics you’ve covered and are in your exam.
Ask your teachers for past exam papers.
Actually READ the notes you’ve made –highlight key terms and facts.
Learn how to learn - use the revision strategy cards and resources you will get on the revision evening.
