NOTIFIABLE WORK

Notifiable work is common, everyday plumbing and drainage work performed on existing buildings:• hot water heaters• toilets• showers• supply pipes.

REMEMBER: You must report notifiable work to the QBCC.

Class 10 Domestic sheds, garages and carports.

Class 2 to 9 Commercial buildings such as apartment blocks, restaurants, shops.

FORM 4/4A - NOTIFIABLE WORK

Submit Form 4/4a to the QBCC within 10 business days.

APPROVED AUDIT PROGRAMSExample only

PURPOSE:Monitor compliance with the notifiable work laws.

DURATION:

The audit period is set to start on 1 July and conclude on 31 October June 2019.

CRITERIA FOR LICENSEES:All licensees, of the below listed classes, who may perform regulated plumbing and drainage work in Queensland, including notifiable work, may be randomly selected for audit. The selection process is random and licensees may be chosen through advertising, industry forums or off the Plumbing and Drainage Contractor Licence list held by the QBCC.

CLASSES OF LICENCE SUBJECT TO THIS AUDIT PROGRAM:

• Plumber• Drainer

HOW WILL LICENSEES BE ADVISED OF THEIR SELECTION FOR AUDIT?Licensees will be advised in writing if they have been selected for audit. The primary contact will be through email wherever possible.

THE OBLIGATIONS TO BE COMPLIED WITH BY LICENSEES SELECTED FOR AUDIT UNDER THE PROGRAM

Licensees selected for audit must comply with the request for information (“notice”) and supply documents or information required to determine the licensee’s compliance with section 83 of the PD Act. The licensee must comply with the notice even though complying might tend to incriminate the licensee or expose the licensee to a penalty.

TOUGHER PENALTIES

• Stronger enforcement against unlicensed persons performing plumbing and drainage work.

• New provisions to crack down on repeat offenders.

FALSE ADVERTISING AND MISREPRESENTION

SAFETY INCIDENT REPORTING

• 8,000 general workplace injuries in construction a year in QLD (average).

• One in every 75 workers suffers a serious injury.

• Eight construction workers die each year (approximately) as result of workplace injuries.
