* The Net Costs provided to you on the enclosed College Financing Plan includes things you will not be
billed for by FDU. These indirect expenses include books and supplies, transportation, and other education
costs.
Your award letter includes a listing of each individual award you
will receive and contains an estimate of your remaining direct
costs.
Think you applied for financial aid but didn’t get a financial aid
award notice from FDU? Call the Office ASAP so we can look into
this for you.
It could be that FDU doesn’t have your Social Security Number OR
that FDU wasn’t listed on your FAFSA OR it got lost in the
mail/email.
A student selected for federal verification is required to provide
additional documentation to FDU to confirm the information reported on
your FAFSA.
You may also have been selected for verification by the State of New
Jersey and the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA)
will request additional documentation.
Your financial aid is pending and subject to change until
verification is completed.
If the student is going to accept the
direct loans and/or work-study on the
financial aid package, the student can
do this on Self Service on
WebAdvisor.
Self Service will be available in
mid-July. Students will receive
email notification when this is
available.

Extra Step for Direct Loans:
Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note
Loans need to be repaid. Repayment typically begins six months after
the student graduates or drops below half-time in any semester.
Subsidized loans and unsubsidized loans have the same interest rate
(2.75%), but the government pays the interest on the loan while the
student is in school.
You can make interest only payments on the unsubsidized loan while
the student is in school. You will make those arrangements with your
loan servicer.
Need to borrow an additional loan?
Parent PLUS Loan: Parent Only (no student borrowers)
studentaid.gov
5.3% interest for 2020-2021/PLUS loan fee is 4.236%
Private Loan: Parent or Student with Co-signer
Make sure your application is submitted and approved before September 10th.
We recommend you apply for an annual loan: August 2020 – May 2021
Don’t forget about fees!
If you need help deciding how much to borrow, let us know!
• FDU Grants and Scholarships require a student be enrolled full-time (12+
credits)
• NJ Tuition Aid Grant requires full-time enrollment
• Federal Pell Grant eligibility is pro-rated if a student drops below 12 credits

Have the student check with us if they are thinking of dropping courses and we can
go over the impact!
FDU Merit Scholarships will renew for four years if the student maintains the
required GPA
FDU need-based grants and federal and state financial aid will renew if the
student files a FAFSA by the April 15th deadline and continues to meet eligibility
