Professional CodeAll KISD coaches are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism in regard to conduct, demeanor, grooming and relationships among faculty, staff and students.
Educators’ Code of Ethics – Texas Administrative Code
▪ Represent the profession
▪ Represent your program
▪ Conduct yourself as a professional
• Continue to inform coaches on what is
expected of coaches and players and what is
not tolerated….
• Emphasize importance of emotional control
during practices and games.
• Outline expectations of coaches, athletes and
parents and fans.
• Set personal and team goals with your players.
• Goals should include studies and sportsmanship.
• Care for your kids more than you care for the sport.
• Know your players and help them handle pressure
situations.
• Use your influence to impact athletes in a positive
manner.
• Help athletes set and attain high scholastic and
behavior goals.
• Teach the value of self-awareness.
• Cultivate an attitude of “giving 100% no matter
what the outcome.”
• Recognize accomplishment in all areas.
• Create a culture that values academic and athletic
success and one that emphasizes character
development.
1. Establish a culture
designed to place
academic success as a
priority.
2. Effectively convey to the entire KISD community:
• Importance of education-based athletics.
• Our transformational statements which define
program success.
3. Each campus will use a system designed to
communicate with parents and athletes on a
weekly basis.
4. Utilize existing systems and mechanisms
designed to ensure that our processes and
procedures pertaining to UIL / KISD
compliance are sufficient and thorough.
So…..
5. Minimize the incidents of coach and
student/athlete ejections during contests
through proactive measures employed by
coaches and administrative staff, including the
modeling of appropriate behavior during
practices and games.
6. Maximize participation numbers by designing
education-based athletic programs that:
• Are focused on the student/athlete.
• Are goal-oriented and purpose-driven.
• Emphasize character development and promote
servant leadership.
• Focuses on the purpose, power, possibility, and privilege of
leading and coaching.
• Requires educational leaders, athletic directors, coaches and
school communities to take an in-depth look at four key
questions:1. Why do I coach?
2. Why do I coach the way I do?
3. How does it feel to be coached by me?
4. How do I define success?
