The Recluse

By Jamie, Will and Lyle

Our story and USP We have decided to produce a film trailer

for a British horror film, which itself is a fairly unique genre as most horror films are American. However the key USP for our film trailer is that the film will tell the story from the killers perspective, narrating the dark and disturbing trail of thoughts that this psychopath deals with before and after he commits his wrong doings. One film that uses this technique is the 2008 zombie movie ‘Colin’ directed by Marc Price, the story follows a young man who is attacked by a zombie during a zombie apocalypse and follows his journey through London and shows that even a Zombie can have a character arch that viewers can empathize with.

Influences for our killers appearance

Filming locationsWe intend to film our trailer in several locations including Cold Christmas church, Presdales woods, an abandoned pig farm and industrial workshop

Our target audience

Our target audience is both male and females within the age range of 18-30 year olds who enjoy the horror movie genre. We will appeal to our target audience by demonstrating some the emotions the full film would have to offer in our trailer. An example of how we would do this is by showing a variety of shots such as an over the shoulder shot showing the killer stalking a young couple from within the safety of their own home

Visual and sound styleFor our trailer we will use some typical generic horror movie shots from films such as Halloween combined with some unique ones to compliment our USP. We will achieve this through the use of over the shoulder shots accompanied by narration from the killer. As for music we decided that maybe the use of a child singing a nursery rhyme (we are contemplating “the incy wincy spider”) and using sound distortion features on the computer perhaps add an echo effect to give the impression that our killers domesticated safe childhood is not but a distant memory and this will help give us an insight into our killers life and help develop the killers character arch.
