    Gradings

    Congratulations to everyone who took

part in the Kup grading in December.

There were a lot of club members taking

this grading. All their hard work paid off

and they were rewarded with their

    results just before Christmas.

There has also been a much smaller Kup grading in the

past few weeks and the results from this will be handed out

    shortly.

Congratulations are also due to Louis Bailey who achieved

his 2nd Dan black belt in December. Dan

gradings only happen every six months and

the examiners for this grading consisted of

two 6th Dan and two 7th Dan black belts.

    Well done to everyone!!

    Grandmaster Park Hae

    Man visits the UK.

On the evening of 10 March, SouthamptonUniversity TKD club hosted an all gradesseminar at which we were privileged to be

taught by Grand Master Park Hae Man(10th Dan) who was visiting from Korea.

GM Park is one of the architects of modernday Tae Kwon Do and helped develop thepatterns that are used in the gradings. He is thevice president of Chung Do Kwan in Korea.

The seminar was started by Grandmaster MarkBiddlecombe (pictured below with Powerhouseattendees) before GM Park arrived. All of the

attendees received some individual attention fromGM Park who explained the meanings behindmany of the movements in the patterns.

Many of the black belt patterns were also coveredby GM Park while GM Biddlecombe or GMLindsey Lawrence taught the colour belts.

It was an excellent seminar and was enjoyed by allattending. GM Park repeatedly used Stephen todemonstrate and referred to him as tonightsstar. At the end we all received a certificate andMaster Pat was awarded a special certificate fromGM Park for his services to Tae Kwon Do.

Please make sure that you arrive in time tostart the lesson promptly. Lately, we havebeen getting more late arrivals, which not only

disrupts the lesson but increases the risk ofinjuries etc because the students are missingthe warm up.

The lesson in Swanmore on Thursdays (6pm-7.30pm) is open to any one who is a green beltor over. At these lessons we cover the gradingsyllabus for these more senior grades, soanyone who wishes to grade for blue tag orabove should ensure that they come to asmany of the Thursday sessions as possible.

If you have moved house, or changed yourphone number (including mobile number),please let us know so that we can update ourrecords. It is important that we have a currentcontact number for all students so that we canget in touch in an emergency.
