ery journey with us. At times harrowing, yet relentlessly optimistic, her story took us to the depths of her despair and to the brightness of her life and future in recovery. Her experience, strength, and hope reminded all of us of the courage that it takes to find and sustain recovery.

This community exemplifies that courage – the willingness

to act when action is needed, the strength to stand up as faces and voices of recovery, the compassion to reach out to others and walk with them on their recovery journey. Your courage is a deep wellspring of inspiration at the Cen-ter each and every day.

Thank you for believing in the hope of recovery. Thank you for believing in the mission of FAVOR Greenville.

Powerful missiOn Because of youR suppoRt, lIves aRe changed and saved at favoR eveRy day.

IndIvIduals have sought help at faVor since July 1, 2013: 38% are family members and 62% are individ-uals seeking or in early recovery.

has been donated to faVor through the gen-erosity of individuals and local foundations.

famIlIes began the arise intervention process, with an 83% success rate.

We all have been a part of something truly mo-mentous these past two years. You heard the call-to-action when the need for new recovery

support services in our community had reached a des-perate level.

You responded with awe-inspiring generosity and hum-ble service. You created the FAVOR culture of openness and compassion that participants find so appealing. You have saved and changed the lives of well over 4,000 indi-viduals and family members to date – thanks to your belief that everyone deserves a life in recovery from substance use disorders.

The community that has emerged at the Center – the FAVOR Family – epitomizes the vision that we have for the entire Greenville community: that we will become a community that embraces and celebrates recovery as a positive, healing force.

That positive force was present at our Gifts of Recovery Luncheon in november, 2014, when national Recovery Advocate Tara Conner, miss UsA 2006, shared her recov-

vIsIts by participants for services: 33% for all recovery Meetings, 11% for family group, 21% for outreach, 15% for Coaching and interventions, and 20% for training, Volunteering and Community events.

Because of the incredible support of our donors and volunteers, people who suffer with a substance use disorder

come to FAVOR to begin a compassionate conversation about how drinking and drug use have impacted their lives. They find the hope and courage they need to start a process of change based on their vision of how their lives can be different in recovery.

At FAVOR, there are no criteria to be met, no insurance required, no discharge planning. programs and services are offered at no cost, so there are no financial barriers to participation.

I really believe this is a place that changes people’s

lives and helps them to get better. They do that for a huge

number of people. I really believe in FAVOR.

a family member is not the only one affected by addiction but the entire family as well. for Bill and suzanne Misiaveg and their daughter, Christen, faVor offered a place where they could find what they needed most – hope and help.

“faVor offered our family a totally different approach that was embracing and full of hope and encouragement. our daughter who is in recovery greatly benefited from the programs and support at faVor, so much so, she volunteers her time there. But faVor has also offered us support and resources that address our perspective and needs.

from the meetings to the recovery Coaches to the activities, we have learned so much about the disease, the science of addiction and the ways people can begin and remain in recovery. there is great compassion and openness at faVor with an atmosphere full of positivity, joy and inspiration.

faVor is all about building relationships and providing information that is focused toward recovery. their programs are more tailored to a person’s, parent’s or family’s needs and engages them at a level that is relatable and heartfelt.

for our family, faVor has been life-changing. it is where you will find hope as soon as you walk in the door.”

after three months in a treatment program, the challenge for Christen M. sigmon was learning to live life sober

and interacting with her family and friends again without using substances.

“returning to my life after treatment meant learning to live one day at a time without using. My husband had heard about faVor and encouraged me to visit rich Jones, the executive director, to see what options might be available for me. What ended up happening after my meeting with rich and the people of faVor, i started volunteering. they have so many great programs and activities i just wanted to be a part of it.

faVor has helped me tremendously to live my life fully and completely sober. equally important, faVor provides a totally safe environment where i can share my ups and downs as well as daily struggles with people who understand where i am and what i am going through in my recovery.

Leading the Children’s Program at faVor has brought clarity and purpose to my life in recovery. i am truly blessed to have this opportunity to teach kids how to understand their feelings, emotions and find the support they need. Plus, our statistics show parents whose kids are in our Children’s Program are more likely to stay in recovery or seek long-term recovery. there is just no other place around like faVor greenville.”

alcohol and drugs were a mainstay of Jay’s life. He was addicted and didn’t see a way of breaking the

cycle. at least not until he walked through the doors of faVor.

“i had tried other programs but it wasn’t until i came to faVor and started meeting with Mike Malone that i started to understand how i could change my life and stay sober.

the staff and volunteers at faVor are tremendously open-minded and genuine. there are no rules or traditions that you must abide by. their philosophy that there are many pathways to recovery resonated with me and allowed me to get the help i needed.

Best of all, i wasn’t alone. all of us share our stories and we learn from each other and we help each other. there is no stigma, just warmth and compassion.

Quite simply faVor has taught me how to get through the wreckage of my addiction and start living my life again. i have been able to rebuild my life on so many levels—mentally, spiritually and physically.

thanks to faVor, my future looks bright and i know i can go out in the world and accomplish anything with pride because of my sobriety.”

Jay IveyWithout FAVOR, I would be out there drinking and taking drugs.

After an extensive two year planning process, the Board of directors of FAVOR launched a capital campaign in June 2010 to raise $ 1.5 million as

start-up and operating capital to open south Carolina’s first recovery community center. The vision: FAVOR Greenville Center would help more people begin recovery, re-enter recovery after a re-occurrence, and achieve stable long-term recovery.

more than 220 generous donors made gifts of cash, pledges and gifts-in-kind to exceed the campaign goal. These Founding donors are a group of courageous citizens who believe in a community ideal where the stigma of addiction is no more. They believe in a community where a lifetime of recovery is within every-one’s reach. These beliefs became a reality with the opening of FAVOR Greenville Center in July, 2013.
