Another Sign

And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous.Revelation 15:1

some signs are dismal. the view from this side of heaven can sometimes be terrifying. We see high mountains, low valleys, dark caves and impenetrable barriers. We see signs of hard times.

We see walls that we can’t see over and problems we can’t see our way through. We think these are signs of the times.

but if we hold on long enough, eventually we will see another sign. it is great and marvelous.

From our vantage point this side of heaven is filled with visions of despair, hopelessness, untruthfulness, wasted resources and wasted lives signaling to us that the end is near.

but there is another sign created by the same God who spoke into existence the heavens and the earth. this is the same God who holds back the waters from covering the earth by the power of His Word.

there is another side to God who allows certain things to teach us some things. this side too is great and marvelous.

He is the terrible God who also gives comfort to go with the afflictions He provides to move us to the next place in Him with humility.

He is the storm maker who also gives us peace in its midst.

He is the Hand that gives provision and that chastens.

He is great and marvelous.

look and see the mighty workings of God. see beyond the signs on earth. there is another sign that signals the purifying love of God. it is great and marvelous.

this sign says, “i love you.”

Bessie delores GraNt, age 69

years, died on saturday, april 27, 2013 in her home in street, md. born on december 17, 1943 in the rocks area of Harford County, md, she was a daughter of the late Clinton Holland and marian (Wallace) miller and the wife of daniel Grant.

a lifetime resident of the area, bessie was a 1962 graduate of the former Central Consolidated High school in Hickory, md and continued her education in business/accounting at Harford Community College in bel air, md. a member of Chestnut Grove a.m.e. Church in street, md, bessie was active in various leadership roles, was a sunday school teacher, superintendent, on the steward board and recently was instrumental in adding a church outreach program. she also had been active in prison ministry.

bessie had worked for the Klein Family of Forest Hill, md for over 40 years at their grocery stores where she was a baker for the last 15 years. she loved to cook and her specialty was making holiday bread baskets filled with her homemade rolls.

bessie Grant will be loved forever by her family, friends, church family and all who knew her.

about Robyn Scates

Robyn has always known that her life was called for a higher purpose. at an early age, she dedicated her life to Christ and finding that purpose. By that age of 7, her

passion for helping others inspired her to seek a career as an attorney. She knew that being an attorney would allow her to further her passion for protecting the welfare of others. in fact, it is that very passion that led her to an accomplished career in law and business development. and it is that same dedication that roused awareness in her and, in many ways, guided her most fulfilling venture as a motivational speaker, minister, life coach and author of her first book Bringing Peace into your inner Sanctuary.

Robyn simply cares about God’s people. She has spent her life uplifting and inspiring youth and adults to reach their full potential. you but have to look at what she’s done for proof of that. She is a minister, the Founder and CeO of PROUD1, a non-profit that teaches businesses, adults and youth how to be successful in business and everyday life; a life coach; a professional trainer; the general counsel and vice president of Corporate Governance and Chief Diversity Officer for a national nonprofit and she is the sole practitioner for Scates legal Group. all of that and, somehow, she still finds time to give back to the next generation of legal minds as an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore and Morgan State University.

One might wonder how she is able to do it all. Robyn will tell you that it hasn’t

always been so easy. She learned to juggle it all after finding a way to “bring peace into her inner sanctuary.” She knows, from experience, that only through the grace of God and finding inner peace can one really endeavor to do meaningful things for others. That’s why she’s a sought after voice and trainer on the subject by churches, businesses, national organizations, having recently been a featured guest on CBS Radio in Washington, D.C. where she shared personal insights on finding peace and engaged to host her own radio show called the “Motivational Cheerleader” on Radio 1’s WOlB 1010 aM on Sundays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Robyn serves as Trustee for everlasting Fellowship of Faith; on Boards for the University of Baltimore, Hoffberger Center for Professional ethics, the Mobile Shoebox; as former president of the alliance of Black Woman attorneys and she has been, twice, named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record.

Robyn holds a Ba in Political Science, Juris Doctor, and is currently working on her Ph.D. She has been married for two decades and, together, she and her husband Terry have two sons.
