Legitimate: Based on one’s formal authority or positional role in the organization

Reward: Based on potential benefits provided

Coercive: Based on threat or fear of consequences

Information: Based on access to information

Personal Power: Prestige: Based on one’s status, reputation & network

Expert: Based on expertise, skill, or knowledge

Referent: Based on others’ identification & admiration

Sharing Power: Empowering Others through

Delegation

Knowing what to delegate….

Personnel matters, confidential activities, crises, activities delegated to you personally

reasons for selecting the employee
