The suctioning off of pulverous or granular products is an act carried out preferably with ejectors which are driven with compressed air. Here, low pressure is generated on the suction side of the apparatus which allows atmospheric air to flow into the ejector. This again serves as a carrier medium for the product to be suctioned in.

With a sufficient flow velocity the solid is entrained by the carrier medium. This process is described generally as the fluidisation of a solid.

The ratio of the gas percentage (as a rule, atmospheric air is suctioned in) and pro rata solid is designated as the degree of fluidisation capability. This is dependent on diverse factors and is influenced by the solids resp. handling specifics.

Influence factors are:

• Flow velocity of the suction-side gas flow

• Particle size of the solid

• Density of the solid

• Surface structure of the solid

ELLEHAMMER A/S disposes over many years of operating experience with this type of ejector and has several standard construction sizes in its manufacturing programme. It is possible to manufacture application-specific special solutions.

The dimensioning of the ejector size is effected in such a manner that such a large volume of gas is delivered in the chosen suction pipeline so that the conveyed material floats up and is entrained by the flow velocity occurring in the ejector‘s suction and pressure lines. Diagram 1 gives a

statement about the settling rate wso [m/s] of an individual spherical grain in stationary air.

In case of a fixed installation the discharge pipe should be installed in such an inner dimension, that fluidisation of powder will not breaking down. Please note the following diagram for settling velocity of granulates / powders wso [m/s].

This type of ejector is ideal for transport of powders. The ejector is motivated by gas – preferred dry compressed air - and designed to suck varies types of powder, fluidised in a gaseous media.

• Type 40-50-80BV, 50-80-100 BV and 100-125-150 are standard vice manufactured with an inspection cover in nozzle area of the ejectors head.

For connecting hoses ore pipes to the ejector connections please take care that diameter on ejector will be not reduced by the diameter of pipes ore hoses. In case of specific questions please ask us for our comments.

Ejector performance diagram 25-32-32BV

The following performance diagram shows the capabilities of the ejector at different operating

pressure. When activating the ejector it will perform suction pressure from 1,0 bar abs. = atm.

pressure = 0 mwc - up to approx. 0,1 bar abs. (-9 mwc) vacuum. Therefore the ejector will have

high gas consumption at startup, which decreases as the vacuum increases.

For special purposes it´s possible to modify the existing inspection cover into a special board for secondary fluidisation of the suction flow. Such a special solution for secondary aeration could be necessary to pump special powders.
