Do not wait until the last minute things will inevitably take longer than planned
Remember to allow time (and money) for printing/laminating

Make it easy to read Make it easy to understand People only have a few minutes per
poster Poster should stand alone
verbal explanations should supply details, not essentials
![Page 5: Poster presentation](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062419/558d098fd8b42acb168b4771/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Typically, use 3 to 5 columns Arrange material vertically from top left
corner to bottom right corner This makes it easier for people to read,

Make it interesting! You want to lure people from a distance Should be easy to read from 4 feet If title is too long, shorten it

Like anything else, creating a poster can take as much time as you let it. Start early and allow time for mistakes, but decide how much time you can afford to spend on this, and stick to your decision.

You need to be able to give an overview of your work in 3-5 minutes
Practice your presentation ahead of time, and time it!
Get feedback from colleagues
![Page 18: Poster presentation](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062419/558d098fd8b42acb168b4771/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)

![Page 19: Poster presentation](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062419/558d098fd8b42acb168b4771/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
Have a good opening that explains the main focus of your poster
Be able to summarize your conclusions and their importance
Don’t assume that people are experts in your field
![Page 20: Poster presentation](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062419/558d098fd8b42acb168b4771/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
Don’t stand directly in front of poster But don’t disappear either!
Give people a chance to look But don’t ignore people who are interested
