Are you worried that your children are being priced out ofthe capital? You are not alone. With rents and house pricesspiralling out-of-control over 85 per cent of Londonparents doubt that their children will ever be able to affordto live in the city they were raised in.
Unite believes that Sadiq Khan has the right policies tohelp the next generation get on the property ladder.

• Build thousands of more homes, setting a target thathalf of all new homes built are genuinely affordable tobuy or rent
• Give ‘first dibs’ to Londoners, rather than overseasinvestors – building on brownfield public land and usingthe Mayor’s planning powers to their fullest extent
• Create a new type of home for people struggling to rentprivately – ‘Homes for London living rent’, where rentsare based on one third of average local wages
• Build homes for first-time buyers to ‘part buy part rent’– giving ‘first dibs’ to Londoners who have been stuckrenting for over five years

London is a great city – one of the greatest in the world, BUT it is also the mostunequal city in the developed world. More than a quarter of Londoners live inpoverty, the majority of them in working families. Low wages and soaring housingcosts (rents have increased by 19 per cent in the last five years) are making life harderfor working people to get by.
Now more than ever London needs a Mayor that will stand up for all Londoners – not just the wealthiest few.
Sadiq wants all Londoners to have the same opportunities that our city gave him; ahome they can afford, good jobs with decent pay, an economy that works for all andan affordable and modern transport system. That’s why Unite is backing Sadiq.
