POSTER PHOTO SHOOT

When I first thought about what I wanted my movie poster to look like, I wanted it to look like a cross between Sherlock Holmes (Drama) and a Horror movie (Jack the Ripper). Initially I drew up a sketch of what I wanted it to look like. I then took several photographs in order to decide which would be best for my poster; these are the 5 I narrowed it down to before deciding which to proceed with.

MAGAZINE COVER SKETCHED DRAFT

I drew up a sketch of what I wanted my Poster cover to look like. I will go unto explain where some of my inspiration derived from (published film posters) I took photographs from an over the shoulder shot. I referred back to the drawing on the day of the photo shoot to ensure that the photos taken would allow me to be able to create a film cover which looked like the draft I had drawn up.

Photographs taken in photo shoot.

While reviewing the photographs I had taken I realized they were too dark and that I could take a few more and rethink my idea for what my poster was going to look like. My decision was based on a poster that I recalled seeing, The Collector and The Collection, which had the image of a man in the bottom half on the poster tying on a mask; I took a few pictures in this position and decided I would use it for my poster. Here are the posters from the movies which inspired the shots and the photographs I took.

I edited my image on Photoshop, I wanted to make my poster look like The Collection Film Poster which hand the man in front of another image, and there were several variations, (bodies in a glass cube and in front of a house). I decided to take a few more photographs, I wanted mine going down an alleyway. This is what my first draft looked like..

I added a photograph which I put in behind my image on Adobe Photoshop. So that my final poster would look as if the main Is walking (stalking) down a street.

POSTER CONSTRUCTION

I showed this to 10 people and asked for their feedback on it. What I got from this feedback was that were still components on a poster that were missing which made it look incomplete. I needed to add the Tagline, The director’s name, Production company logo, actor’s names and the release date to the poster.

Issues I would have to address before I could submit my final poster.
