Agricultural Development Trust’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Baramati &
Koelnmesse YA Trade Fairs Pvt. Ltd. organized the 2nd edition of KRUSHIK 2017 Agri
Exhibition for 4 days at KVK Instructional farm with live demonstration of all the
technologies related to Agriculture and Allied Enterprises. It was held from 19 to 22
January 2017. This unique attraction of the expo was the Live demonstration of
crops, Technology solutions, Agri inputs, Farm equipment, etc. spread over a
sprawling KVK farm of 110 acres.
Six months before the show dates, sowing work began on over 110 open plots as per
PPP mode in collaboration with Indian and International Exhibitors. A week before
the show an exhibition hangar was being erected to host stalls of 134 companies &
44 companies had participated in this event by showcasing their technologies in the
form of Live Demonstration of crops, Machinery and equipment demonstrations,
Seminars, Video shows, Animal Show etc. In addition to these Agriculture
universities, Research Institutes had participated in the event and showcased their
studies and innovations in farming.

KRUSHIK 2017 - Inaugurated by Hon. Dr. Harry Ankone, Vice Chancellor of VHL University,
Netherlands, Dr. Wouter Verhey, Counselor - Agriculture, Netherlands Embassy in presence of
Hon. Mr. Pandurang Phundkar, Agriculture Minister, Maharashtra, Hon. Mr. Sadabhau Khot,
State Agriculture Minister & other dignitaries.
The 2nd edition of KRUSHIK 2017- Live Demo &Agri Expo was inaugurated on 19th January 2017 by Hon. Dr. Harry Ankone, Vice Chancellor of VHL University, Netherlands, Dr. Wouter Verhey, Counselor - Agriculture, Netherlands Embassy in presence of Hon. Mr. Pandurang Phundkar, Agriculture Minister, Maharashtra, Hon. Mr. Sadabhau Khot, State Agriculture Minister, Hon. Mr. Ram Kharche, Deputy Chairman, MCAER, Pune, Hon. Dr. K.P.Vishwanath, Vice Chancellor, MPKV Rahuri, Dr. B.R. Ulmek, Dean, MPKV Rahuri, , Hon. K.D. Kokate, Director of Extension Education, MPKV, Rahuri, Mr. Ingale, JDA, Pune, Mr. Katkar, SAO, Pune, Mr. Sunil Borkar, PDATMA, Hon. Rajendra Pawar, Chairman, Agricultural Development Trust, Baramati & other dignitaries.
After inauguration, the dignitaries visited all the activities undertaken during KRUSHIK 2017. They visited demonstration plots comprising of vegetables, cereal crops, pulses, fruit crops and also bee-keeping unit, fishery unit, Center of excellence for vegetable, Dairy unit, Poultry Unit, Silage Unit & Animal Exhibition.

Hon. Mr. Pandurang Phundkar, Agriculture Minister, Maharashtra appreciated the
efforts made by KVK for KRUSHIK 2017. He stated that for the first time in his life,
he has seen such a huge exhibition which has live demonstration of technology.
Hence it will be helpful for farmers of the state & country. He suggested that the
farmers should take the advantage of this KRUSHIK 2017 exhibition which can help
them to reduce the cost of production, saving on water for irrigation, accurate
forecasting of weather, diseases & pest prevention etc. which will finally be helpful
for the farming community.
Hon. Mr. Sadabhau Khot, State Agriculture Minister, Maharashtra appreciated that
the technology adopted from Netherlands, Israel, China, Belgium, Germany, Taiwan
& other countries which has been implemented by KVK will lead to second green
revolution in the country.
Hon. Mr. Sharad Pawar, Ex Union Agriculture Minister stated that in changing
weather scenario KVK has taken up steps for the cultivation of different crops &
suggested that farmers should utilize all the innovative technologies demonstrated
during the live demonstration.
Dr. Syed Shakir Ali, Head & Senior Scientist, KVK Baramati presented different

Maharashtra to declare Honey Bee as National Insect as bees are important for
pollination & due to indiscriminate use of pesticides & other problems the population
of honey bees are decreasing day by day. In addition to this he suggested to
implement Silage technology developed by KVK in whole of Maharashtra for providing
fodder to cattle in the event of a drought situation. Likewise, Water Storage Tank
can be utilized for producing Fish in cage culture & it can be utilized for Fish farming.
Bio fertilizers & Bio pesticides can be produced & utilized for organic farming was
highlighted during the presentation.

The total visitor count of farmers visiting Krushik 2017 was 2,19,930. The first 2 days
visitors were charged an entry fee and the last 2 days’ entry was free. The paid
visitors could attend seminars and workshops conducted by various entities during
the first 2 days.
On show dates the KVK farm was blooming with an exotic and impressive spread of
vegetables like cauliflower, Onion, cabbage, capsicum, okra, tomatoes, brinjals,
and exotic fruits, like Pomegranate, Mango, Banana, watermelon, Orange etc. This

produce belonged to some prominent names like Bayer, Monsanto, UPL, EnzaZaden,
Indo American Seeds, Rise n’ Shine, Zydex, K F Bioplants who had rented multiple
plots.

Some plots also showcased technology solutions and exhibitors like Kirloskar
Brothers, CRI pumps & Jain Irrigation. They showcased live demonstration of solar
water pumps, drip irrigation & micro irrigation technology. There were exhibitors
who also demonstrated small implements like sprayers, vermicomposting, crop
covers, mulching, Dusting machines, poly shade nets, hydroponics, etc.
Farm equipment was also a major attraction for farmers as they were treated to an
impressive array of tractors, silage making machines, farm tyres, tillers, harvestors,
etc. Moreover, the farmers also witnessed live demonstrations on crops, which
invoked real time feedback and serious inquiries for exhibiting companies like John
Deere, Sonalika, New Holland, BKT, etc

Another part of the farm where farmers could be seen keenly interacting with
exhibitors was Poly houses where a brilliant variety of flowers were in full bloom.

The visitors were treated to an awesome collection of Marigold, Tuberose, exotic
varieties of Gypsophila, Lymonium, Rose, Carnation, Orchid, Gerbera, etc.
The Center of Excellence which is a new addition to the KVK farm was inaugurated
by the Netherlands ministry and a seminar was organized jointly by KVK for the
benefit of farmers. DLG from Germany which was a knowledge partner also had a
session on farming technologies being used in Europe.

The exhibition hangar was a source of information for dairy and poultry equipment,
grain storage solutions, motors, spares, animal feed and health products, pumps,
pipes, etc. Exhibitors had set up impressive booths engaging farmers on a one-on-
one basis and discussing best solutions for their needs.
The animal show which had a wide variety of cattle on display had large gathering
of admiring visitors. One could see various breeds of cattle like Khillar, Red
Khandari, Deoni, Gir, Panganur & Goat breeds like African Boer, Beetle, Shirohi,
Barberi, Jamunapari was also exhibited. Horse Show of Katewadi breed & Dog Show
of different breeds like Grey hound, Doberman, Mudhol hound, Carwan, Pamerian
was organized during exhibition. Poultry breeds like Vanaraja, Kadaknath, Shrinidhi,
Grampriya for backyard farming was showcased for the farmers’ benefit.
Last but not least, the expo had a huge area, for a food court which was set up to delight
tired and hungry visitors. Interestingly, these food stalls over 100 in number were managed
by women SHG who were selling local delicacies of a wide variety of vegetarian and non-
vegetarian foods.

Bhimthadi Exhibition
The ‘Bhimthadi Jatra’, which has become an annual feature for the past 10 years
with surging crowds, concluded this event. This is a rural carnival which is a separate
exhibition of SHG groups involved in production of various Agricultural products was
also organized during this event. Nearly 100 SHGs had participated and not only they
have displayed their products but also they have provided tasty traditional food to
the visitors which is also one of the highlight of this event. Different food-items and
articles prepared by the SHGs are displayed at the fair, It includes Primary processed
Agricultural products, Handicrafts, Handloom, Handmade, Daily need Products,
Woolen Products, Bamboo Products, Ready to Consume, ready to cook, products,
preserved food and fruit products, agri produce and other products reflecting rural
culture. Food items include puranmande, various non-veg dishes and so on. Besides
all these stalls, a small replica of a village had been set up at the fair. Folk artistes
performed Waghya-Murali and Potraj to entertain the visitors. This Dias was provided
to BPL group and the members from landless labour families to showcase their
produce and obtain maximum profit for sustainability of these members.

Contract farming & Seminars:
During KRUSHIK 2017 special launch on contract farming was organized with the
participation of more than 10 agencies viz. K.B. Exports Pvt. Ltd, United Spirits,
ECGC Crop insurance, VEGMART, Vikramshila Exports Pvt. Ltd, Vegetable weekly
market, Scalar Trading Company etc, involved in export of various fruits &
vegetables. They helped & registered the farmers for contract farming & exporting
of their produce to different countries.
Likewise, various seminars were organized on 19, 20 & 21st January on various
subjects viz. Dry land farming, Hi-tech cultivation, Contract farming, Soil testing &
Interpretation of results, Grape Net, Anar Net & various other international topics.
At inaugural speech Mr. Andreas Wilhelm, Dipl. from Germany guided these participants on
Innovative Technologies in Agriculture. He stated that application of fertigation technologies
increased the crop yield up to 20 percent.

Mrs. Vandana, Assistant General Manager, ECGC, Pune interacted these participants
on different schemes and rules and regulation required for exporting the agricultural
commodities.
Dr. Sanjay Pandhare, Monitoring Specialist MACP, MSAMB, Govt. of Maharashtra
deliver the lecture on Organic and Global gap Certification for export & domestic
market
On third Day Mr.Yaswant Kenjale, District Soil Survey & Soil Testing Officer, Pune
delivered his speech on importance of Soil, Tissue Testing and Soil Health for future
agriculture. Dr. Promod Jagtap, Soil Scientist, M.P.K.V., Rahuri spoke on Soil health
for sustainable agriculture and recommended that use of site specific fertilizer
management is needed for Sustainability, Productivity & Soil health.
Niek Bodten, Director, Holland Door, The Netherlands and Mr. Yashwant Jagdale
Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) guided these farmers regarding Hi-tech
cultivation of vegetable & flowers. Mr. Vivek Bhoite Subject Matter Specialist ( Soil
Science) has guided the farmers on Dry Land farming.
Mrs. Dhanashree Shukla, Director, Vikram Shila Export Import Pvt. Ltd. discussed the need
of cultivation of residue free fruit & vegetable production for export and Backward-
Forward linkages for export market.

during the exhibition. Residue free export quality fruit and vegetable production
and soil health workshop is inaugurated in presence of Mr. Tate Sub Divisional
Agricultural Officer and Mr. Vivek Bhoite Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science)
In this seminar 350 farmers are participated.

Gathering of farmers from all over India to see KRUSHIK Live Demo and Agri Expo
KRUSHIK 2017 was organized on the basis of PPP mode and was sponsored by
NABARD, ATMA, Jain Irrigation Systems, K F Bioplants, IFFCO, PDCC Bank, Malshej
Agro Pvt. Ltd, etc. In all 178 companies, had displayed their products.
Farm Machinery and equipment exhibition was led by companies who demonstrated
tractors, harvesters, processing machines, spraying and dusting machine, irrigation
system, solar pump & electricity system etc.
Farmers from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Telengana, Andhra Pradesh,
Karnataka, Goa, Chattisgarh and other states had participated in this event and
taken the advantages of various innovative technologies.

Live Demonstration of Mechanization in Agriculture
On the basis of Seeing-is-believing principle, demonstration of cutting edge Technology was organized.
1. Integrated Farming System model – Agriculture, Water storage tank, fishery, poultry,
horticulture, Vegetable, pulses and cereal crops.
2. Vegetables like Chilly, Brinjal, Tomatoes, Okra, Ridge Gourd, Bottle Gourd, Musk Melon,
Cucumber, Bitter Gourd, Capsicum, Water Melon, Cherry tomato, Squash, Hanging Melon etc
on raised bed with mulch film and micro irrigation system.
3. Cereals like Wheat, Rabi Sorghum, Maize and Pulses like Bengal gram, Cowpea, Green gram,
Beans & Green pea on raised bed with Drip irrigation system.
4. Multi cut Fodder crops on drip irrigation system like Hybrid Napier, Marvel, Guinea grass,
Hedge Lucerne, Multi cut Sorghum, Rye grass, Subabhul, Multicut Bajra and Lucerne
5. Horticulture crops like High Density mango, guava plantation, Dragon fruit, Drumstick.
6. Flowers like Tuberose, Marigold and Cut Flowers like Gypsophila, Lemonium on open field.
7. Banana on drip irrigation and skirting bags technology.
8. Green Houses for Gerbera, Carnation, Dutch roses and Cucumber, Chilly, Brinjal, Squash,
