DegreeColleges offer a limited number of degrees which can be completed at the college as well: Kwantlen, Douglas, Langara

CollegeClass size is smaller, more individual attention to students.Cost is much less about $2600/year + books, feesCareer programs vary: a 4yr nursing program at Kwantlen costs about $40,000Starting at a college and transferring to a university gives the same result!5General admission requirements + specific faculty requirements and GPAs need to be looked at under undergraduate admissions

Each course is 3 credits or 30 credits a year approximately, with the goal of an undergraduate degree

Decide what faculty, degree, or programs are going to be applied for. 2. Apply on-line. Some applications request a Personal Profile or supplemental application

3. Shortly after application, go to the schools financial aid web page to see if there are any scholarships/awards of interest.

4. Ensure grades are reported at Term 2. A Delta Access Online course should be 50% complete by the application deadlines. Application to a BC Post SecondaryConsidering transferring from a college after an associate degree or transferring between a less desired faculty to a more desired facultySelecting at least a few placesContacting Program advisors: have your child email them, but CC yourself. Online Courses: Must be 50% complete in order for the course to be considered for admission if the course is at Delta Access. If you are taking the admission course through another school district it would be prudent to finish the course by the end of January because only final grades are received through the ministry to the university

75. Allow the Ministry of Education to release the school marks to the college, by going on-line and completing a PSI form.

6. If you entering trades, book a pre-test to reduce wait times. Speak with trades advisors at colleges.

7. Once you have term 2 marks, based on the English Mark decide on the LPI. If in doubt, write the LPI.

8. April-June: Offers will come. Continue to apply for bursaries, scholarships, etc. Take tours or visit campuses. Email or meet with an advisor at the college, to confirm course selection.

Course selection will be based on date the application was submitted and when the application fee was received. Apply as early as you can. General admission requires English 12 with a C, but depending on the program, there will be other requirements.

Each Career Program has their own application cut-off date. Entrance is competitively based. Look at program of interest and then at entrance or program requirements. Application Start Date: November 15, 2013 UNTIL PROGRAM FILLS

Pre-Tests: Students in trades programs should write pre-tests for Math and/or English to access the waitlist before graduation, otherwise have to wait until June 2014. Each Career Program has specific admission requirements, including an Minimum GPA and a possible additional step to the application process.

11The sooner you apply the sooner your offer will come in the mail. Applying early is advisable for this reason, however, it is more important to pay attention to deadlines as grades and personal profile are the main admission requisites with thewww.applybc.ca

Apply BC is an online registration for almost every BC public post secondary institutions (universities no longer accept paper applications)

Apply to several institutions at the same time. But you will need to select a faculty and a back up faculty incase you do not meet the GPA for admission

Post Secondary Info Sessions15Colleges and universities all have Entrance Scholarships. They are based on GPA, criteria and application information will be on the school website, typically these have an early deadline

Community Scholarships are provided by small & large corporations, for-profit and non-profit organizations, sports organizations & diverse community groups, associations and unions This type of scholarship is most numerous and accessiblewww.studentawards.comwww.burnsviewsecondarycareercentre.weebly.com

Graduation Programs Examinations Scholarships are given by the provincial government to students in grades 10-12 that have the highest provincial exams marks vouchers to be used for post secondary tuition$1000 to 5000 students$2500 to 20 students with top marks

Scholarships-Parents ask around.work, community, church-If you think you may qualify for a student loan, then have student apply for a student loan, if they dont qualify they may still qualify for some bursaries. If they do qualify, its good back up. If you dont use it, you could take a small loan, have student pay it off and build their credit rating.Many entrance scholarships are based on grades AND community service, leadership16Bursaries are both merit based and based on financial need, most post secondary institutions have bursaries to close the gap between financial need and available governemtn assistance

Dogwood District Authority Awards are to recognize superior achievement in a non-academic area such as Visual Arts, Applied Skills, Athletics, Second languages, Community Service, Trades & Technical. Worth $1000 each
