• “Worldwide mobile phone sales to end users totaled 435 million units in the 2Q of 2013,

an increase of 3.6% from the same period last year” Gartner said.

• Android devices expect to increase almost 300% over five years

• iOS/Mac OS grow about 140%

• Windows will have to navigate a successful implementation of mobile devices

Worldwide Smartphone Sales to End Users by Operating System in 2Q13

• The smartphone operating system (OS) market, Microsoft took over BB for

the first time, taking the 3th spot with 3.3 % percent market share. Android

continued to increase its lead, garnering 79 % of the market in 2Q 2013.

• 2013 Total Revenue Mobile APPs show an increase of $8 billion from last year to $26 billions.

• 2013 Number of downloads reach 102 billion, Free APPs account for 91% of total downloads

• 2013 In-App Purchase (IAP) account for 17% of the total revenue from APP market.

• Out of the $26 billions expected revenue, $8.8 billion is expected to come from Tablet APPs.

• Applications and Engaging Experiences leverage NFC (Near

Field Communications) most effectively, which is clearly the

direction of the future for mobile commerce / social / mobile /

local enablement

• The market for tools to create consumer and enterprise facing

APPs is complex with well over 100 potential tools vendors. For

the next few years no single tool will be optimal for all types of

mobile application so expect to employ several.

• Total APPs available for iOS, Android, Windows App, All platforms

for B2C marketplace have grown significantly over the years.

• 2014 IT spending on software development projected to grow

significantly, One of the largest segments expected to drive

growth is APPs.

• For the Business-to-Employee (B2E) and Business-to-Business

(B2B) Apps markets are likely to be more specialized and be

custom developed for a given organization and the market.
