Victor Petersen President Bollinger Hills HOA

Currently we have only 40 homeowners who wish to go paperless and not receive a statement for each billing cycle. They received an email with a statement attached to let them know the dues and when they are due.

Just give us authorization in writing (an email) and we will no longer send statements. You only need to make sure you send us $240 each January 1 and July 1. Help us keep your dues low and be green at the same time.

You can send an email to [email protected] or send us a note by US Mail. You can drop that note in my mailbox at 309 Mare Lane. Also, let us know what else we can do to make paying your dues easier.

Let’s Go Paperless

Recognizing homeowners who have done an exceptional job of maintaining their homes, which helps make Bollinger Hills one of the premier developments in the San Ramon Valley..

This month's "Bollinger Hills Spotlight Home" award goes to Wayne and Carol Meier. Wayne and Carol are original owners, and have been Bollinger Hills residents for 33 years. Last October they decided it was time to renovate their front yard. This would be the third renovation since buying their home. This renovation consisted of replacing the old brick and concrete walkways with new stone paths which are laid in a pattern that gives the paths a very nice design and flow. They covered up the brick on the front of their home with new stacked stone and also added stacked stone to the columns. They created a new mailbox tower, and replaced their old lawns with drought tolerant landscaping and drip irrigation. Their main goal was to use materials that gave their home a more natural look. Their favorite feature is the new front patio where they plan on spending more time sitting in their front yard and enjoying the improvements. We would like to thank Wayne and Carol for doing such a great job maintaining and improving their home over the years. It really looks great!

Bollinger Hills Landscape Corner

By Susan Friedman, BHHOA Landscape Chairman Owner of Susan Friedman Landscape Architecture [email protected]

Whether the drought sticks around a few more years or dissipates soon, the majority of Californians don’t intend to quit their water-conserving ways. According to a poll conducted by the Save Our Water program, 86 percent plan to continue to conserve water both indoors and outdoors on a permanent basis. While the public’s perception of the drought’s seriousness has lessened since last polled in October, 74 percent still believe it is important to continue to find ways to reduce water. “Even though winter storms have eased drought conditions in some parts of the state, water conservation remains an important priority for Californians,” said Mark DiCamillo, field poll director. “This prolonged drought has started to change the way Californians look at their water usage – whether the state is in drought or not.”

Regionally, more Northern Californians noted permanent landscape changes as “very important.” “Conserving through four years of drought has changed the way Californians think about water,” said Jennifer Persike, deputy executive director of external affairs and member services for the Association of California Water Agencies. “They get it, and they are making permanent changes to keep saving water.”

California Drought Ideas

These two Bollinger Hills residents removed their lawn and converted their yards into California Native low water use gardens.

Save Our Water is focusing its efforts on the “Californians: Fixing It For Good” program, which shows examples of those who are making permanent changes that will conserve water for the long run. For those of us who live in Bollinger Hills, above are two examples of homeowners who converted their water thirsty lawns into beautiful backyard garden retreats filled with colorful California Native plants. In addition to water savings, these gardens “come alive” with pollinators such as butterflies, hummingbirds and “good” pollinating insects.

By Thom Sharki, CC & R Committee Chairman

Spring is here and FRONT YARD  MAINTENANCE is a top priority. Although we are still under state mandated water restrictions, each homeowner is responsible for mowing/maintaining their front yards, EVEN THE WEEDS.  Some homes have bark or stone in their front yards to reduce their water usage.  However, if you did not use plastic or some other form of weed control under the bark or stone weeds are coming through.  These weeds have to be removed and are not allowed to grow. Also, some homes that have used plastic under their stone/bark have allowed the plastic to become tattered and showing, this too has to be corrected.

Remember if you are going to re-landscape your yard, or paint your house, you must have approval from the Bollinger Hills Homeowners Association ARC Committee.

Bollinger Hills is one of the most  desirable developments in San Ramon. One of the main reasons for this is due to the attention our home owners give to the curb appeal of their homes. Keeping our curb appeal standards high is a goal for all of us.

As a reminder regarding TRASH DISPOSAL: Trash, garbage, accumulated waste plant material, or other waste and refuse shall be deposited only in covered sanitary containers.  Such containers shall be located in an appropriate area upon each lot and concealed from view except to be placed at the curb no more than 24 Hours before scheduled pickup and remain at the curb or visible no more the 24 Hours Scheduled After Pickup.

If you have any questions regarding our CC&R’s, you can check our web site, send me an e-mail at [email protected] or just give me a call at 925-875-9046

Here’s to great spring.
