September 2017 This year’s Autumn Fair was a huge success. A massive thanks to everyone who came along and enjoyed the day with us. Face painting, rides, bouncy castles, a fantastic barbeque and great performances all added to the excitement of the day. This year’s Autumn Fair was a huge success. A massive thanks to everyone who came along and

enjoyed the day with us. Face painting, rides, bouncy castles, a fantastic barbeque and great

performances all added to the excitement of the day. A grand total of £3009 was raised and will be

spent on some exciting projects for the school this year.

Clubs

Our new clubs programme has been launched. Our students are taking

part in netball, football, dance, badminton, running and cheerleading.

There is also art, Minecraft, film, sign language, textiles, junk band,

geo-citizens, photography, journalism, drama, chess and mindfulness.

We also have a thriving choir. Every night students can also attend home

learning club.

In PE our students have been

learning to play rugby and to

run long distances. Students

are about to put their new skills

to the test by taking on local

schools.

Art

Year 8 students have been

designing and creating giant

animal sculptures and Year 7s

have begun making volcanoes.

Our students are loving using our

new table tennis tables which

have been delivered and installed.

Table Tennis

The year 7s are learning how to use

a Bunsen burner, and how to

conduct a full scientific

investigation. The year 8s and 9s

are learning about forces, the

periodic table and the human body,

including practical lessons on food

tests, using magnets and some

heart dissections.

Year 8s have started cooking in

DT, this week they made Indian

vegetable puff. The focus of this

practical was to develop their

cutting skills and to use spices in

their cooking.

and go to school..

Huge congratulations to the

following students who have

been presented with the

Positivity Award:

Every half term students take part in

a theme project. Year 7s have been

learning about volcanoes in

Geography, have made them in Art,

exploded them in Science and are

writing a piece of flash fiction about

their consequences in English. Year

8s will be learning about the weather

in geography, speaking about it in

French, exploring climate change

with non-fiction texts in English and creating animated characters to

produce weather forecasts in Computing.

Students have been learning to

play musical instruments in their

music lessons and many

students are taking up the

opportunity to have extra

instrument lessons.
