Expression of Interest

Assistant Principal - Denman Public School

Expressions of interest are invited from interested teachers in a temporary Assistant Principal position at Denman Public School from 27/01/2016 - 26/04/2016, and possibly, then for the entire year.

Denman Public School is a small, rural school in the Upper Hunter. It has an enrolment of 185 students who come from diverse backgrounds. The school has a long history of educating children from the local area and is held in high esteem by its community. The school grounds are attractive and provide great opportunity for environmental education activities. It is extremely well resourced and has a staff committed to engaging all students in their learning. The entire school community encourages responsibility and respect for the school and its community.

Denman Public School has a focus on literacy, numeracy and technology in the 21st century to enhance students knowledge and skills. The school endeavours to ensure students have a healthy lifestyle by providing opportunities to engage in a variety of sporting and cultural activities. Our Strategic Directions are "Quality Learning for Life", "Improved Curriculum, Management, Leadership and Pedagogy" and "Stronger School Community Partnerships". Position Information

This position will be for the duration of Term 1, 2016 with a possible extension for all of 2016.

Brief Role Statement

Teaching and supervising stage 3, participating in whole school decisions, dealing with student welfare, working as a team member with the executive team & educational leadership.

Selection criteria

- Teaching qualifications and recent school based experience within the K-6 range.

- Successful team work and ability to enhance staff performance.

- Effective communication and negotiation with students, staff, parents and the community.

- Evidence of well-developed planning, organisational and resource management skills.

- Effective contribution to programs for Literacy, Numeracy, Student Welfare and Attendance.

One of the referees listed must be the applicants current principal or supervisor for non-school-based staff. Expressions of interest must not exceed 2 A4 pages and require the signature of the applicants current principal or supervisor.
