URBAN REGENERATION OF A URBAN BLOCK

LondonUnited Kingdom 2014Regenerate, redevelop, reuse, in a word: Retrofit. This consists of adding new technology and features to an older system, thereby exten-ding the useful life. This is the task that I have applied to the areaarea of Vauxhall: a major inter-change infrastructure, which the city of London is investing a lot of energy. Home of the famous building of the British Secret Service, the M16 Buil-ding, the area will be distorted by a cluster of skyscrapers that will radically alter the skyli-ne. Like all the more effective projects that are proposed, also for this, is requested approval by citizens. The design of Kylun Towers, suspended by the government due to a petition signed by thousands of citizens, is waiting for a new proposal that attempts to reuse the existing, avoiding further land consumption and thatthat really solve the complica-ted overlap of trains, pede-strians, buses, cars, ferries and subway.

Tortoreto Italy 2011The archaeological site which is located on the road from Tortoreto to upper town show, the villa rustica of Muracche.ThisThis project aim to cover the archaeological excavations, provides the area whit a new entrance, build paths in the adjacent olive grove and a museum tower, to contain artifacts found at the site. The conceptconcept of the project is the construction of tourist route that links all the buildings.

Filottrano (AN)Italy 2011The building in question is an old truck’s garage situated in a strategic position on the edge of the historic center. Leads The owners request a retrai-ning for the total transforma-tion of the building.The proposal is to create a mixed-use building, with par-king in the basement, com-mercial ground floor and resi-dences or offices in the first and second floor. Anyway the proposal respect the framework plan of the historic center and the most recent standards for energy efficiency.

Set close to Brockwell Park, the 110 Effa parade, is an existing derelict fish and chip shop. Following extensive nego-tiations with the local authority, the building is to be converted into a dynamic, contemporary single family home.
