Portfolio definition

This resource uses the term portfolio in the sense of:

a collection of evidence of a person’s acquired skills, knowledge and relevant experience, used as a record of lifelong learning and as a career passport.

• Trainer integrated the use of photos into delivery of some units

• Most apprentices responded very well• In the training environment, he took photos

of all completed work with the apprentice who baked it. Each photo was authenticated and included the date.

• Trainer supplied lists of web links

• Apprentices had to find hard evidence and complete assessment sheets in books with tear-out pages. When marked and returned to them, they added this hard copy to their ring binder portfolios.

• Groups of 3 or 4 apprentices worked together to diagnose and respond to sugar trials.

• Each apprentice had a different task within the group. Each had to do their analysis, prepare a short report, and communicate this to the group next day.

• Some presented written reports; others used video. All reports were included in the apprentice’s individual portfolio.
