The project is situated in Ispartakule, Istanbul - a neighbourhood made mainly of houses built overnight - gecekondu. The alternative suggested for this neighborhood is given by the governmental institution TOKI - a series of multi-storey towers without any connection to the local features of the area and the way of life of its inhabitants.

This project is trying to give an answer to the TOKI towers and to propose a higher quality of life for the area. The work on the project was organized from the bottom up. There are four main groups of people typical for the area - the gecekondu inhabitants, the new immigrants from Anatolia, the middle class Turkish families and the new nomads. On the base of those target groups were

developed four main apartment typologies which rely on the tranformability of the space for alternative scenarios. This bottom-up method continued in the building generation and the masterplan development. The building itself proposes different spaces for common activities which are situated between the apartments. [ project 1 I architectural design I academic project I year 2012 ]

The project for a spa & wellness center is in the centre of Sofia, in a plot formerly inahbitated by Romans nomad village. The project is based on a strategy at different scales. In a first urban scale, the project is providing an urban order, creating a morphologic grid able to give a smooth transition between the new settlement made by commercial activities and the surrounding context. The grid is also deformed by a green vector which is connecting in the direction north/south two

urban parks, creating a green corridor for the citizens. The spa & wellness center building is born from the interesection/union of a water path (coming out of a natural mineral source) and the green corridor. This union produces a topologic form which becomes a continuous shape, with no barriers: the bulding is a brige which frees the circulation in the open public space. The continuity of the building with the water path is obtained with a double entrance, which allows to experience the building in

two different directions. The idea of continuity of the space is reflecting on the interior organization where a perimeter corridor creates a free circulation. The different activities are organized on an archipelago of rooms, set by group of activities, which is flipping the traditional relationship - functional space/connective space - in favour of the continuity of the space, according to the original concept.

original 10 x 10 meters grid in the configuration of the prexisting Roma peoples houses

a green vector connecting two parks is deforming the original grid in the direction north/south

the grid is adapted in the direction east/west in order to create a smooth integration with the sorrounding urban morphology

a water path emerging from an old mineral water source is introcued in the plot

the bulding is a topologic loop that borns from the intersection/union of the the green vector and the water path

The area consists of a strip of land bounded on the east by the Mediterranian Sea, on the West by SS114, on the north by the SP3 and on the south by the SS 124 and SP 14. The area for a total of 105 km2, includes four different minucipalities: Augusta, Melilli, Priolo Gargallo and Syracuse. Due to the importance that characterized Sicily during the

Greek period, the entire region is characterized by important archeological findings (Megara Hybleas, etc.) The area in the early 50s had become industrialized and was one of the centres of the Italian economic and industrial expansions. So, the area became one of the most important petrochemical poles across the whole Mediterranian basin. The large

industrial plants have now taken control on the territory and on the coast asserting strongly on the scene. Today the area is a complex example of territorial organization in the Sicilian landscape. During the survey of the area, first frightened by the idea of finding the common ugly and poluted industrial site , we found ourselves dealing with a territory never seen before, unusual and varied.

  • for some of the tanks was introduced a system first developed by Mel Chin called Revival fields. Practically, it is an incubator for growing higly acumulative plants which have the property to absorb heavy metals from the soil. In these fields the contaminated soil is tested and after which the plants are introduced for its reclamation

due to the heavy petrochemical industries present in this area the contamination is present and very high. The project is suggesting an ecological and at the same time aesthetic way of facing this problem

The design for the Pavilion of the poets is developed as a spatial interpretation of the poetry. The source of inspiration is the visual poetry, in which feelings and events are transmitted through specific graphic interpretation of the literature. The main tool used is the visual analogy, which gives graphic and precise representation of abstract ideas, developed in the

poetry. The project is a conceptual investigation on he same topic: how the architecture and its constitutive elements can recreate and play specific poetic scenario. The project is developed in the end part of the plot keeping most of the existing garden. For simplifying and defining the various functions in the space are used dots. The communicational

program between the elements is following the Delaunay triangulation. Around this network is used a Voronoi diagram, which optimizes the spaces. For each space is chosen a picture, responding to the relating literature. This colage is used as a matrix for generating the material, spatial and decorative components of the building.

  • The assignement for the Rehabilitation centre project has been given in the fourth year of my master programme, in Public buildings classes. The site is very important and hectic cross point in Sofia. The district is represented with the typical architecture of the socialism - very high and massive residential buildings.

The environmental factor and the bond with the surrounding urbanised area are the main considerations taken in this project. The reason is that the site is on the entrance of a city park which makes the importance of the building really high. My idea is to organize the human flows so that they be redirectioned from the

main street to the park. In this case the rehabilitation centre is designed as a barrier. The building is with minimal width between the axes of 7m. Most of the main rehabilitation functions are located on the underground level. Every room under the ground receives difuse light from above which creates intimacy and coziness for the visitors.

the main therapies like massages, bath procedures and the solariums are situated on the ground level. The swimming pool, the small pools and the gym are connected with a garden and take the most distant part

  • The study area is a redevelopment of a former industrial area in the outskirt of Cremona, a historical city situated along the Po river, less than one hour by train from Milan. This area offers some problems: proximity with a highway and an existing factory, mild isolation from the city centre and the nearby housing block; and several opportunities: presence of water and green and the relation with an

important school complex. We analyse the area with the support of different methodologies: multi-scale analysis, swot and pest analysis; and the analysis of urban datas and map: mobility system, building typology, green system, land use, limits and connections. We also analyse the links with the surroundings, the natural and urban environment.

  • This analysis aims to give overview about the development of the city and its structure. As typical town of this kind we see the highest population density in the centre. At the same time, the map shows the growth of the city and its specics. The marked zone, which is our project area shows us the urban void in the zone and strenghtens the need of an important function there.

the voronoi diagram is a special kind of

decomposition of metric space determined by

distances to a specific discrete set of objects in

the space, e.g. by discreet set of points. The dots are

called Sites. The Voronoi regions are simply areas

around a site but enclosed by the lines around them. The network of lines is the

Voronoi skeleton.Programmatic mapping of existing surroundings

  • on the first residential floor the communication is solved with two staircases. Each of which serves for four apartments. The two side ones of each half of the building are duplex apartments with their own inner staircase. The orientation of these apartments is double, while the smaller ones have southern exposition

on the second residential floor the staircases are serving two apartments each. This solution is minimizing the area for communications but at the same time providing comfortable reaching for each dwelling unit. All the apartments have double exposition

Important changes in the main structure Current stageLast changes

The town of Brivio has formed round its Castle, probably as a front of the bridge over the river Adda. The Castle belongs to the fortification system along the river as a border between the State of Milan and teh Republic of Venice. The Castle of Brivio is in a particular situation - its

original characteristics have been in a way suffocated by the successive modifications of its use. The immediate metamorphoses of the fabric have a great historical value.During this course, the task of investigating the current state and the history of the Castle had been held. Through

numerous observations in-situ, as well as through theoretical knowledge, there had been produced maps of localization, development of the Castle, abacus of the architectonic details and most important precise investigation of the materials and the decays present.

DISCOLORATIONLoss if the colour intensity or "brightness" of colourCause:insulation, chemical attack

TRANSFORMATIONThin layer, soft and smooth, adhering to the surface of clear biological nature, varying in colour, mostly green. Cause:Action of autotrophic microorganisms; presence of moisture or water; morphological substrate (roughness, unevenness, falling, etc.)

LOSS OF COHESIONLoss of coherence starting from the surface resulting in separatoion of loosened particles (bricks- powdering) or lack of cohesion due to granular disintegration (mortar- sanding)Causes:Bricks: Inferior firing which leads to hardly any vitrification

LOSS OF COHESIONPoint that degradation occurs through the formation of bling holesand numerous close. The holes tend to have cylindrical shape with a diameter of few millimeters. It affects mainly limestones (marble in particular)

LOSS OF ADHESIONDetachment of coating, glaze, engobe or skin due to a loss of adherence between surface and paint film or plaster finish. Causes:Poor adherence. Frost, cryptoefflorescence, grow of algae between coating and underground, percolating water (rising damp)

    Evident absence of material

Replacement of material where necessary. It is vital that the correct style of pointing is used as well as the appropriate material. The use of inappropriate joint finishes and cement mortars can seriously alter the appearance of a historic building, detract from its character and can result in acceler-ated decay over timeCause:When the exhisting pointing has failed and where water penetration is taking place

TRANSFORMATIONDegradation related to the heterogeneity of the composition and structure of the material.

LAYERINGDetachment of one or more layers from a material with an originally homogeneous structureCauses:Frost, salt crystallization in or under surface layer, leaching, zones of weakness and swelling processes, chemical or physical wearing or heat.

LAYERINGDiscontinuity between the surface layers of the material, both among themselves abd with respect to the substrate: usually a prelude to the fall of the layers themselves. The term is used in particular for plaster and mosaics. In the case of natural stone detached parties often take on specific forms depend-ing on the structural and textural characteristics, and prefer items like crust, scaling, exfoliation.

DISCOLORATIONA spot of distinct colourProbable Causes: Iron, vanadium, manganese, phenol razin, bleeding of wood, chemicals released by growing plants, chemical/biological attack due to water And water-borne acids, condensation, pollution. Wrong technology and detailing. Wet spots or zones due to condensation or rising damp

DEPOSITExogenic deposit of paint, ink or similar on building material surface

DEPOSITAn endogenic formation of soluble salts, commonly white, deposited on the surface of building materials by capillary actionCauses:The combined result of drying and capillary action- a salt solution comes to the surface of a porous material due to capillary action.

DEPOSITAccumulation of foreign materials of various kinds, such as dust, soil, guano, etc. It has a variable thickness and ,generally, lack of consistency and adherence to the underly-ing material. Deposits on the surface.Cause:Exposure, roughness and surface deformation, use od paint products, atmospheric pollutants; natural or atmosperic pollutants

The occupation of a material, internally or externally, with organisms and micro-organisms; vegetation may form microbe films and lawns, microbe camps, penetrate into stilts, cracks, crevices and pored, or work its way through the material creating its own new cavities.

Presence of elements and materials with different origin that detract from the historic character of the buildingCause:Current use of the building complex

LOSS OF ADHESIONDetachment (unbonding) of mortar from brick or rendering from masonryCauses:Pointing can be pushed out by an ice lens growing behind or by the swelling of the laying mortar due to frost attack or salt swelling

LOSS OF ADHESIONLifting surface and location of material that takes variable shape and texture (rounded, soft); it occurs at the wet parts, especially at the lower end

Geometrical survey. For the survey of the ground floor of the castle of Brivio was used the method of the tri-lateration. Fixed points close to the castles facade were used as starting points and reference for the survey

Mapping of the decay. The abacus for the decay on the main facade was made through the previously carried photographic survey and a direct inspection in-situ. The classification of the damage was created considering the origin of the influence and the relationship between the material and the decay

  • Bars and night places are a challenging topic for creating an interior design. Focused only towards the visitors and their personal reflections on the place makes the task complicated as the designer must satisfy multiple needs and desires. From functional point of view such places are often with an easy solution. The objective was to create such space so that every visitor must feel this is his/her

own place for relax and to feel comfortable with it. Usually in piano bars, the focus is on the piano itself. My decision was to make the task more complex and add panoramic views. Combining the sound and the picture brang me to choose separation of the space in three main parts. The ceiling with its complicated surface follows the main plan and corresponds to the needs of the three different types of

sitting. Moreover, the structure and surface itself serve for acoustic purposes, balancing the huge window vitrine. Lighting is hidden in the ceiling above the priv zones and cutting it where needed- in the bar. The furniture is simple and white making the piano bar looks clean and keeping the persons attention on the night view and the beautiful sound of the piano.

the panoramic view of Sofia during the night was the environment

I used to create my project. The space is

organized on the base of the different views which the visitor can

    choose to admire
