The brief: “Why can't I yet plan or book my journey through Europe — switching from air to rail or sea, to urban or road transport — in one single go and online?”
Siim Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission, in charge of transport
Mytripset, is a door to door multimodal European journey planner.
This project has been initiated by a competition launched by the European Commission for transport in 2011.
Regarding the short time of the competition (Two month to deliver the user experience vision and technical specification of the product) insights have been gained thanks to the company internal expertise during cross-disciplines workshops and design challenges.
Concepts mockups have been created in a very short period of time and put in context in order to illustrate and promote the vision behind the Mytripset :
A multi devices service aggregating multimodal transports data, and user generated content in a highly personalized and seamless user experience.
Based on the company’s customer segmentation, 4 personas have been designed. Scenarios have been written and short animated movies created in order to demonstrate how Mytripset would improve the travel experience of Europeans citizens.
And we won !
But it was just the first step. To make it real, we still had to document the service’s workflows and functions.
In regards with the huge ambitions stated in the original vision it was clear that we had to priorize developments.
Then came the definition phase.
Several users tests sessions have been conducting during the development process.
They where mostly based on interactive prototypes created in Axure.
They helped us to improve the Mytripset usability and also remove features that had no or low perceived value for the user.
Tablet / Desktop Mytripset has been launched in 2012.
And we won again !
This project has been awarded by one of the most prestigious design price in France - the Observer du Design Label - for its innovation, superior user experience and design methodology.
I’m here and now, I’m well and you are on my mind
The brief: Today, distance is less than ever a gap for communication. But does it make us really fell more connected with the ones we love ?
Beyond voice, SMS or emails, mobiles phones provide partially explored abilities to record samples of reality, from images, to contextual information as geolocation or movement.
The aim of this part time design research project was for me to gain design methodology knowledge and explore how technology can help people to feel closer.
During years 2010 and 2011, with a small team of designers at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs de Paris, we have developed and experimented several concepts around mediated communication issues.
For instance, the feeling of connexion can be instigated through artifacts. Objects that are grown by the information or the experiences we share and decline or could even die if for some reason the connexion is broken.

Interface
From an holistic perspective, digital communication devices capacities are covering or will cover soon all the interactions we can experience in the tangible world.
However most of them are not or under exploited in the the communication tools we use every days.
By working with sociologists and ethnography specialists we realized that we are now in a post-modern era and what it does mean for designers like us.
The success of movies and books like Harry Potter show the desire for different ways to interact with the world around us.
More human in one sense, softer, more intuitive, richer and more personalized interfaces are expected, especially by the younger generations.
Ethnographic research showed us the importance of the first circle of intimacy. A few persons, 3 to 7, that concentrate most of our daily communication.
I decided to focus my researches on this circle of a few beloved.
With them, communication is more than just a pleasure. It is a vital link.
More researches showed me the underlying relations between objects, sounds, gestures and feelings.
This is why my design project as been based on the postcard metaphor.
It Re-uses the qualities of this vintage communication mean to instigate the feeling of presence through to a range of subtle signals.
I Drafted the interfaces and moved very quickly to a prototyping phase.
Developed in HTML / javascript, theses interactive prototypes helped me to refine the concept by gaining users and pair feedback.
Eventually, Hic&Nunc - an iPad application - has been developed with the support of an iOs developer and published on the Apple app Store.
Connected with Twitter for the messaging and geolocation, this application communicates in an soft and ambient manner geolocated messages on a map and allows the sender to notify gently the receiver with a set of sounds related to his mood.
My Connected Car
The brief: Now, see your car is a connected device. DS, a new brand, positioned on the luxury cars segment wants to create a consistant user experience across inboard and outboard digital interfaces and valorise her connected services.
