The air traffic control tower was the last andthe most important part of the new internationalairport Szczecin-Goleniow in Poland.Challenge: From the beginning this tower shouldcombine military and civil air traffic control. That idea obligated architects to solve all kind ofproblems due to important legal differences like:-Security, independent floors distribution, access, installations, etc.My role in the project as an intern was:-Prepare cad drawings from the scratch.-Keep the information always updated.-Create digital 3D model of the building.-Prepare technical and video presentations.Curiosity: The top level height was adjustedbecause of glass prize that must be bullet proof.

Challenge: Our design team was very small, only four people to develop thisvery complex project in a veryshort time.At the beginning we decided tosplit the project by levels and workon them exchanging mostrelevant information about laws, norms and solutions that might beused.-As a team we had to preparenew presentation every week.

My role in the project as an internwas:-Organize BIM structure andcoordinate flow of data.-Solve all possible problems withBIM software.-Design -1s level dedicated tosupport for -1 level where allanimals were kept.-Design partly laboratory level.-Prepare 3D of the terrain.-Keep presentation always readyto be printed.

Curiosity:-Due to all kind of restrictionnobody can get to the -1 level, except just very few highly skilledpeople. Even simply task likechanging a light must becoordinated from -1s level.

Multifunctional building in Horta-BarcelonaSpain 2011

University:ETSAB

Site. The district of Horta hasa high density and fewopen spaces, as wellas a lack of publicfacilities. The only freespace due totopography has verylimited access andtunnel in underground.

Solution.-Create new geometryand remove allpossible obstacles justto connect wholesquare withsurrounding buildings.-Create small greengarden-platforms justto reduce a visualimpact of existentbuilding.-Put a new buildingthat follow newgeometry of theplace.

Page 13: Portfolio

New multifunctional building is placed in a location with noarchitectural interest; the building adopts a radical shape andgenerates a new urban landmark. The design is conceived as a livingorganism, with the dual purpose of host all kind of public activities and,at the same time, solve the existing circulation problems caused by ahuge difference in the surrounding street levels

The program is developed in two levels:-Upper level, with space to hold public events.-Lower level with an open concept, for everyday use of local residents. In addition, the building has a high sustainability degree and has beendesigned to improve its energetic efficiency, with natural ventilationand lighting.

Underground traffic tunnel cannot receive any loads from new building.
