B. About me

Hello! My name is Hong Nhung, I’m currently senior at Keuka College which associated

with University of Science in Ho Chi Minh City. My family is household company therefore I

choose to study International Business Management major which involves Leadership, Human

Resource, Sale Management, Financial Management, Business Ethic, and Public Speaking,

linking with my experience at home. Studying in this school, I have built my knowledge and

skills day by day. I’m an introvert person so I usually listen and analysis problems carefully

before action. In addition, I’m not genius person but I’m hardworking, responsible, flexible, and

adaptable. In the future, I want a career working with people since I like sharing ideas with

others fairly and learning new things. With the short term goals, I want to study Japanese in

order to enlarge my speaking foreign ability, take advantage in applying at international firms,

and expanse new relationship. In order to be Human Resource Manager of Johnson & Johnson

Company, I have to work hard to achieve that long term goal.

A. MKT 340-Consumer behavior

1. Skills

Create questionnaire to identify consumer behavior

Evaluate the impact of consumer’s motivation, values, and personality on their behavior

Analysis individual and group decision making processes

Apply the family life-cycle model to a cultural context

Understand the stage perception processes that translates raw stimuli into meaning

2. Artifact

I contributed on creating new advertising video clip based on original version.

After that, we had to present why our advertising was different and analysis how

this clip could change consumers ‘mind in purchasing milk behavior. This is the

report involving explanation for consumers’ psychology when they saw our

advertising.

3. Knowledge

This course helps me to describe consumer motivations and decision-making

processes. I learned basic strategies and tactics used to influence buyers also

demonstrate the ability to analyze how well a company is dealing with consumer

behavior issues. I knew that consumers’ perception was affected by many fields

such as: personality, psychographics, attitudes, and persuasion.

B. PHL 115-Business Ethic

1. Skills

Team work in discussing and making any decision in order to share information

equally

Marketing online and offline to expand information widely

Set up event from brain storming to the end

2. Artifact

Class was divided into 5 teams and we needed to create any project showing our

social responsibility. I contributed in setting up CV Workshop which shared ideas

about how to write CV also advices from speakers in interview. Our potential

contribution was students in Ho Chi Minh City especial senior who would

graduate and find job. In this course, I had chance in managing Facebook page,

writing invite letter, letter of thanks for speakers, and preparing tea-break for all

participants.

3. Knowledge

I was very proud of my team because it was the first time that I tried to make

event that I had ever never imaged before. Through this experience, I knew that

building up an event has never been easy and perfect. It contented lot of problems

and conflicts needed to be solved as much as possible and reduce breaking

relationship at minimum level.

C. COM 350-Desktop Publishing

1. Skills

Use Publishing Microsoft to design banner, brochure, and poster

Analysis what method authors used in creating document

2. Artifact

My friend and I (A team contenting 2 students) had to create banner using desktop

publishing technique and present what techniques had been used in that product.

This work required that we had to test before choosing final option for official

banner because my friends’ feeling was also customers’ sensation. Whenever it

had problem with that banner, we solved and requested other people to make sure

that they saw exactly what we wanted.

3. Knowledge

When I want to design any document, I can create by myself without paying any

fee for designer. In addition, I’m able in analyzing method being used in each

document and finding out unbalance in designing also giving advice for other

people whenever they need help.

D. COM 123-Public Speaking

1. Skills

Be confident when stand in front of many people or crowed

Convince opposite people to believe in what I say

Create the way that attract audient and make them want to know what is going

on and stay on speaking flow

Respect all audiences when present

2. Artifact

For measuring personal development in communicating, mid-term exam was

replaced by making video clip. This clip required that each student had to

introduce themselves and post on YouTube page. Teacher would click into link

that had been shared and grade based on confident, creativity, and meaning

standard.

About final project, the team was required to conduct a business proposal

representing new business idea and each team had to convince investors to devote

money after reading proposal. Every student had to wear formal clothes and

presented professionally when they transferred ideas.

3. Knowledge

Understand and recall essential concepts in public communication.

Compose and deliver extemporaneous public presentations on socially

significant and intellectually challenging topics, while utilizing core concepts

from class.

Competently create, organize, and support ideas in public presentations.

Efficiently listen to and critically evaluate others’ messages

E. FIN 312-Financial Management

1. Skills

Collect financial data from trustworthy website

Analysis information in business purpose

Apply all data to forecast economic in the future and predict obstacles

2. Artifact

My team had to choose one company and its best competitor and found their

financial information to make comparison. Make slide show to present for project

which was collected, analyzed and compared financial information of two

companies: Diageo and Pernod Ricard

3. Knowledge

I knew how to record into power point presentation and control time in speaking.

This course showed me how to analysis company information and link with

current economic trend having advantage for me in my work later. Additionally, I

also could enhance my controlling budget skill.

F. MKT 440-Sale management

1. Skills

Analyze a market

Identify a target customer

Develop a sales strategy and sales presentation

Present the sale presentation in role playing exercises to develop confidence and

communication skills

2. Artifact

Imagine as a sale person, I created Strategic Account Plan for Dutch Lady in

order to get potential customers especially businesses such as: supermarkets,

wholesalers, and retail stores. After that, I present ed in class at the end of the

course to show for all class know strategy and approaching businesses method.

3. Knowledge

I got knowledge about Business-to-business marketing context; types of

industrial products and market segments. I explored that there are many

marketing channels which divided into 2 main types: choices, and functions.

When building relationship with customers, I need to invest timer for

constructing my personal characteristics and skills required for good selling.

Customers like to be concerned and contacted regularly therefore keeping in

touch is the key to maintain relationship between sale person and customer.

G. INS 301-Leadership

1. Skills

Collaborate with all colleagues to make the work run smoothly

Communicate to exchange information and ideas simultaneously

Critical thinking needed before making decision

Be responsible for any decision making affecting to whole social

2. Artifact

I took part in Sale Department for selling products at school yard in order to earn

money for charity. After selling days, I made Sale Department presentation for

whole department and designed power point to make tie more eyes catching.

3. Knowledge

Being a leader does not mean me having right to say and direct inferiors therefore,

I contribute my own effort in working with them. I keep a role of a leader to

connect and listen to each other because I think that as good leader usually creates

advantage environment for mental development of all members in a team. This is

the method to run a team effectively and efficiently.

H. BUS 330-Operation Management

Manage time in submitting plan, agenda, and time working

Control finance resource like reducing cost, taking out unnecessary expense

Organize whole class as a small company involving culture conflict and ideas

Solve problems as much as possible to reduce time consuming for unimportant

2. Artifact

I volunteered to be leader of Finance Department for charity project. Class was

estimated as a company contenting Marketing, Human Resource, Operating,

Finance, and Research and Development Department. I made Budget and Cash

flow to show what was going on and total money my class earned after running

project.

3. Knowledge

When I played a role of manager, I invested time for forecasting what would be

the next step, quality management, process design, and scheduling. I also

discovered about customer benefit packages (CBP), primary goods and secondary

goods. This course provided me method how to manage y work through Gantt

chart, process flow chart, and Action on Node (AON).

I. BUS 444-Strategic Management

1. Skills

Precede effective formulation and implementation of strategies

Involves careful analysis of the general goals

Require a thorough analysis of the firm’s external and internal environment

2. Artifact

Analyze Samsung Multi-national Corporation and submit by written report and recorded presentation

3. Knowledge

I got information about the important of social responsibility.

Environmental sustainability and how it increases a firm’s innovation

strategy. The strategic management is the compass to direct organization

toward goals and objectives

J. HRM 208-Human Resource Management

1. Skills

Listen to colleagues’ advices and do not mind to receive mistakes

Communicate friendly with both manager and employees

Spread enthusiasm to all member in company

Be flexible when environment changes

2. Artifact

A group of 3 people creates portfolio for new brand company and power point

presentation including CV of each member, mission statement, logo, application

form, action plan, code of ethic, and business card for each member.

3. Knowledge

I had experience being useful for me in the future when I created my new

portfolio. This project required high quality portfolio also the number of material

contributing in success of our team.

K. Experiment Learning

1. Skills

Negotiate with retail stores to purchase products with low price

Meeting management of whole class and each team

Highly recommended whenever see problems or misunderstanding about

unclear information

Experience in interviewing when apply for manager of each department

2. Artifact

I did four projects with my class mates. After any projects, I had to write

reflection paper to show lecturer know my experience and my feeling when I did

charity work. In addition, in this project, I assumed leader of Finance Department

taking responsibility in controlling cash flow and budget of whole projects. In that

case, I estimated budget and guided my team mates how to report to me after a

project. Moreover, I also took photos for Little Rose, Halloween, Serving meals,

and cooking soup for Ung Buou Hospital to store for future using.

3. Knowledge

I could apply all what I had learned before into this course for forecasting budget,

making decision with all class, and thinking carefully when sharing ideas.

Although I did not have exam, I needed to write reflection, do charity, and show

all my effort when I join in each project.
