Period: 1842, reconstructed in 19th centuryType of Structure: Summer PalaceLocation : 300 feet to the west of Ajmeri Gate of the dargah of Khwaja KakiConstructed By: Akbar Shah II, reconstructed by Bhadur Shah ZafarMaterial Used: Red sandstone, White marble, Limestone, Lakhori Brick, Delhi Quartzite

The summer palace of the Mughals, now in ruins was once a major build-ing of the Mughal reign.

Its beauty lies unnoticed. It is used as a hangout place by the local people. The walls are broken and the pillars are cracked. The designs on the slender columns have faded. The terraces and balconies are home to bats. Some pas-sageways end in dark chambers. The stones echo with the sound of planes flying overhead.

HERITAGE RETROFITZafar Mahal, Mehrauli

The imaginative and adaptive reuse of the heritage building is demonstated by proposing the best way to preserve our heritage structure by integrating them into our daily lives and giving them a meaningful use. With Vision and innovations, old buildings can be given a new lease of life demonstrating sensitivity to heritage significance to the building, its history and key heritage features.

The design was also to be proposed keeping in mind universal accessibility.

DESIGN

CONTEXTThe Mughals were patrons of music

In order to attain moksh, he has to detain himself from all the happiness, sadness, joy, relations and

memories which is very difficult.

This painting has been made on a canvas sizing 16’ x 9’. Oil pastens, poster paints and steadtlers have been used to make this painting.
