ROTARY MINUTE: Did you know…300,000 Child Soldiers (boys and girls under the age of 18) are to believed to be involved in armed conflict world wide? 90% of casualties in armed conflicts are civilians…and over half of them are children! 20,000 people are maimed or killed every year due to land mines. What is Rotary doing about it? Rotary Clubs worldwide are involved in helping to provide relief to children who have been orphaned, traumatized or injured due to these conflicts! We are working to recruit candidates for Rotary Peace Scholarships. We continue to identify and treat the causes of these conflicts: poverty, ethnic tensions, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources. It’s one of the SIX Areas of Focus for Rotary International…We are very proud to be a part of this incredible world-changing organization!! SERVICE ABOVE SELF!! SPECIAL TRIVIA ABOUT MARCH 15! 1869 First professional U.S. baseball team is organized, the Cincinnati Red Stockings. AND April 3 is MLB “Wear Your Hat Day”!! “Put me in coach…I’m ready to play!!”
